Hi all, Well again as you can see. we are way behind in our blogs. We have had a lot of trouble recently trying to add photos, hence the long delays!! More to come soon (hopefully!) Thursday 5th April We were up early this morning to catch the 8am bus from Phnom Penh to Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam. Mia and I were feeling a bit worse for wear - her with a cold and mild fever, me with another bloody headache (for some reason, I have had quite a lot here - not a lot of fun!) Mia slept for about 3 hours of the trip, probably due to her not being 100%, even though the during that time, the roads were extremely potholed making a very bumpy ride. We arrived at a river ... read more

Hi all, Well, we are well and truely behind on our blog updates now (it is 11th April now and we are actually in Vietnam) as we have been so busy for the last couple of weeks. I have just lost the last hours typing of this blog as the computer went crazy, so am a little pissed off, but will give it another go! The internet service is touch and go, so another reason why we are so behind! Thursday 29th March After spending another night in Phnom Penh we caught the bus for the 6 1/2 hour journey to Siem Riep and the Temples of Angkor. We hopped onto our air conditioned bus only to find the air co not really working. Considering that it was 38 degrees and humid outside, it did ... read more

Monday 26th March We arrived late in the afternoon after our long but very interesting car trip from Koh Kong to Phnom Penh. We were picked up on time at 10.30am, said our goodbyes to the wonderful staff at Otto's and headed off. Our driver seemed nice and could speak no english. We had paid $85 usd for the trip which we had been told covered everything including the 4 car ferry river crossings we would have to make. The roads on the journey were a mix of superb and shocking- a lot of parts were being made and were really just muddy tracks. (we were prepared for the worst) The scenery was lovely the whole way. Lots of little villages, dogs and pigs everywhere, chickens, cows, ducks and of course children. There is now one ... read more

Sunday 25th March Well, what a day it was! We all got off the ferry from Koh Chang yesterday and straight onto a song theaw to take us back to the bus station in Trat. We were dropped off at a sort of travel agent (again???) not the bus station, where we were told was where we caught the ongoing mini bus to the border at Hak Let from. 110 baht each which sounded right & coming in 20 minutes - apparently. We were a little dubious so Gav checked around and we double checked the Lonely Planet but were still unsure. In the end (45 mins later) the minibus did pick us up, but proceeded to the Trat bus station where it dropped us off to hop on the 'real' mini bus (!@$#$%) No ... read more

Hi guys, boy, are we behind on our blogs or what? Have 3 nearly ready to go after this one, but will be spending nearly all day today (Thurs 29th?) on a bus so hope to get one or two out mininum. Off to Siem Riep and Angkor Wat today. Just worked out we still have about 7 nights planned in Cambodia which puts us about 5 days behind schedule. Whoops. Oh well! No way we are going to hurry through anything, might just have to stay over here longer.... Anyway here you go! Saturday 24th March We were meant to leave Koh Chang yesterday morning but decided that we would stay 1 more night in the 'nice' part of the resort. 2500 baht (arghh....$90) but for a gorgeous room with the most comfortable bed, ... read more

Hi all, It's now Wednesday, and we have been relaxing for the last couple of days on the stunning island of Koh Chang (down near the Cambodian border). Here is our diary for the last few days: Sunday 18th March We arrived back in Bangkok last night from Kanchanaburi and luckily got the last room available at D & D's. A triple this time, which was great - lot's more room, but also more expensive (1100 baht - $44) Got to the room only to realise that the air con was kaput. What was it with us and the air-co?? Not happy - twice in a row this had happened to us - so Shell off to see if she could get it fixed before we were all overcome by the heat. Gav & Mia ... read more

Hi all, (Excuse the spelling below - hard keyboards to use, and too hard too spell check!) Just a few things before we keep going - after reading heaps of other travelblogs over the last 12 months, we always found that there was not enough information given in relation to names of places, prices etc being that we were heading overseas soon and wanted details, details, details. Therefore, in case other traveller's are reading this and are lookling for information like we were, we will include names of places, prices etc where ever possible. For those back home not travelling, I know this may be boring, useless info to you, but, oh well!! Also, there will be a lot of talk about food as those who know me will need no explaining as to why! Well, here we are in Thailand! After 2 days we are finally rested and relaxed! The flight was fantastic (made up for the fact that the plane was delayed 2 1/2 hours). Only about 1/3 full, it left plenty of room to stretch out & sleep (Gav & Mia that is) All in all it was one of the best flights we have ever had. Mia travelled brilliantly & was especially good whilst waiting at the airport during the delay - we even had strangers commenting on how patient and well behaved she was! Arrived at the airport around 9.15pm Bangkok time (1.15am Melb time) and took the quick, easy way out of grabbing a cab for 500 baht (probably overpriced, but at this time in the morning we did not care!) We checked into a ... read more

Friday 25/4 – Shell: We left Bangkok and caught our flight to Nepal. It was only a 3 hour flight but unfortunately we didn’t get to see the Himalayas as it was too cloudy. It was a pretty bumpy flight – a little bit nerve racking, made more so when descending through the stormy clouds there was a huge bang and a blinding flash of light. No cause for fear; only lightening hitting the plane!! We finally landed safely and instantly fell in love with Kathmandu and Nepal. As we got off the plane and were crossing the tarmac, we looked around there was an old man dressed ‘Nepali’ style sitting crossed legged in a field just watching us... Cool! A tout dragged us into a ‘taxi’ (a ’74 Toyota, no seatbelts) and drove ... read more
