After the "Peak" we rested a day or so and then ventured out to Lantau Island ( the big Buddah) via... the ferry, bus, cablecar. Once we arrived we watched some acrobats perforrm for the crowd. They were so fast that I only caught one of the guys feet. (See the Pic) I was so hungary that I decided to eat and not wait for everyone to catch up so I ducked into an Arab eatery and had a Giro mixed with Lamb and Chicken and hot sauce. Hmmmmmmmm.
As we moved forward in the day I saw these HUGE ciggarettes. ( Again the pics). ooops. sorry they were incense burning. Anyhow the smoke was intense and I had to move away from the smell because I was suffocating. I just do not get why the Asians have to have the biggest of everything. except maybe..... lol. Maybe thats why????????????/
We stayed til 3 o'clock and took a bus back. Everyone was exhausted. The dinners are huge here as well as in China. We ate another 10 course meal. Next time anyone sees me I am sure I will look like a whale. Enjoys these pics.
We travelled to one
of the last fishing villages in the area called "Tai O". It is a famous little town noticed for its originality and street hawkers and sea food shops. We actually have been here twice before over the years but this time we walked around alot more. Its bigger than I thought it was, or it has expanded because of tourism. The houses are made of metal near the shore. I should comment that when it rains on the metal roofs it must sound like a million drums beating at once. This area is also noted for its dried goods such as fish and duck egg yolks. They dry the yolks on trays on the streets. They are colorful. I was trying to take pics waist high of the people without noticing.
Eating experiences are all the rage in HK. One night we all went for seafood, but the way we did it was we went to an area of restaurants that only cook the catch of the day. We still had to go and purchase the seafood from another vendor. The restaurant charges you about 700 HK $ to cook it up for you, and then of course they
add on the extras such as beer, condiments, dessert. This bill for 10 people came over 3000 HK $ for the evening. Spending money is scary abit here because the exchange rate is 7.59 to 1 CDN $.
Last day here for us was a shopping day. You can bargain in some instances. I bought a special item that was regulay 2080 $HK. He says to me in the store that todays special is 20% off. I said no thanks then he comes back and says okay 1500 HK $ I say no thanks. ( But I really wanted this item) I walked again and he says ok then 1200 HK $ ( Never start this with me) you lose big time. lol. I walked out again and said no. Well, He ran after me and offered me the item for 1000 HK$ !!!!!!!!!!! Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat. Ok I walked back in and said to him if he was serious he should also add an extra memory card. He said ok, and we had a deal.
This is HK at its finest. Yup I will be back to HK. Yesssireeeee.
