Outside the caves, I made a new friend. Hi guys, here's our next installment! Everything going great at the mo, having a lot of fun and seen plenty of places. Sorry it's been so long since we last updated you but been pretty hectic and not many places had the tinterweb but never fear, we're here now!
The day after our last entry we organised to have a day caving, kayaking and tubing down the river Song which runs through Vang Vieng. After a short drive and then a bit of a walk we made it up to the water cave where you sit in a rubber tube and pull yourselves through with only a few people with some weak head torches on to light the way! It was really good fun and a few ghost noises later we emerged into the light once more and headed for our kayaks. The sun was beating down all day and cleverly me and Joey just put on one coat of sun cream to last us the day. Needless to say we had a lobster-esque glow (read: burnt to a crisp) at the end of the day. Kayaking was good fun and Joey and Pete managed to capsize their boat over

In the 'Elephant Cave' some rapids which lead to a few screams being heard down river! Later on, just to make Joey feel better obviously, I managed to capsize my kayak also. After kayaking we rented rubber tubes and went to a few of the bars on the riverside but because of time we didn't stay too long.
The next day we decided to go and do the tubing "properly" and spent a full day making our way down the river swimming from bar to bar. We had an amazing day and met loads of new people. I managed to pick up quite a few scrapes and bruises from the big rope swings, zip lines and slides that you use to get back into the river from the bars but it was all worth it! After Vang Vieng we got a bus to the capital Vien Tien and spent a few days there relaxing and going to see a few of the sites before getting a night bus down to 4000 islands in the south of Laos (Joey had to share his bed with a smelly local called Kin, he was not a happy bunny!!). The islands were pretty cool and relaxing, not

The bars down the river many tourists so very quiet and could spend the day walking around before the electricity goes out at 10pm to leave the whole place in complete darkness.
After the islands we took a day and a half to travel down by local bus to Siem Reap in Cambodia. We had some issues getting across the border because we only had $22 each and the visa alone was $23 plus you have to bribe the local police to get your passport stamped etc but in the end we managed to beg, steal and borrow our way into the country! Had an amazing few days in Siem Reap seeing the temples at Ankgor Wat and being taken to traditional restaurants and bars by a tour guide by the name of Sol. On our first day we took a boat out to the huge lake just outside the city to see the sunset. It was really spectacular so I took the opportunity to take a swim in the crocodile-infested waters, sorry Mum. That night Sol took us for some local delicacies including snake, frog and caterpillar larvae, mmm tasty!! After Siem Reap we took another bus down to the capital Phom Pheng

The tubing krew being dragged along by a kayak! but luckily we only stayed there one night cause it was a bit of a hole. Got a bus the next day to Ho Chi Minh city in south Vietnam where we are now. The city is completely mental and crossing the street is something we try to avoid as much as possible! Loads of bars and clubs for the night time and beer is about 50p so can't complain! We got ourselves into a pedal tuk tuk race last night, which consisted of paying the drivers about a $1 to race as fast as they could around the block. I won with Joey a close second and 4 others bringing up the rear! Very funny.
We're planning on staying here another day or two before travelling up through Vietnam to the northern capital Hanoi before getting a flight down to Kuala Lumpar and then up to the Thai islands for the full moon party. Going to be another hectic couple of weeks but going to be fun!
Hope you're all well. Let us know how things are going wherever you are. Sorry it was a long entry again, we'll try and update it more regularly so you
don't have to read an essay every time!
Take care and speak soon. PK & JW x
