Bus de Halong a Hanoi (compris dans le forfait de la croisiere) et un autre train de nuit et nous voilà à 6h du matin à Lao Cai, capitale du nord ouest. On est "chanceux," un jeune nous indique le bus pour Bac Ha, notre destination. Sauf qu'il fait partie d'un gang d'arnaqueurs qui chargent 3 x le vrai prix de bus. On s'en est tiré avec 1,5x le prix. C'est un peu comme ça souvent: il faut négocier très fort partout car les prix demandés aux touristes sont très gonflés ( on nous a arnaqué même pour le prix des billets de train!). Nous avons quitté Tam Coc en bus et sans passer par Hanoï nous sommes allés directement à Halong city, dans l'ancien village Hon Gai (ici aussi c'est la mode de fusion!). Le village de pêcheurs a été transféré plus loin (mais les pêcheurs continuent leur activité dans la baie et le port) , le bord de l'eau a été aménagé en promenades, parc, salle d'exposition sous forme de dauphin, il y a un centre commercial hyper moderne (et cher) et beaucoup de construction d'hôtels de grandes chaînes. Le tout financé par le plus grand milliardaire vietnamien. Un autre milliardaire a financé la construction d'un sort de Disney Land dans l'autre ancien village, Bai Cai (l'autre partie de Halong city) ou il y a déjà une forêt d'hôtels. Nasza przeprawa przez Laos dobiegla konca i postanowilismy przekroczyc granice z Wietnamem w Sop Hun (Laos) i Tay Trang (Vietnam). Plan byl taki, ze mielismy publicznym busem wuruszyc z Muang Kua do granicy tam sie zasteplowac i ruszyc w strone Sapa. Niestety kiedy dojechalismy do Muang Kua ( lodka z Muang Ngoi) okazalo sie, ze rano mozemy miec klopot bo akurat trwalo swietowanie chinskiego Nowego Roku w Wietnamie i ponoc busy moga nie jechac na wybranym przez nas odcinku. Wieczorem krecilismy sie po wiosce i na ulicy zaczepila nas dwojka innych podroznikow, ktorzy dopiero co sie poznali i uslyszeli od kilku innych zagranicznych wloczegow, ze ponoc jest jakas para (my), ktora tez bedzie uderzac do granicy nad ranem. Our guide from yesterday, I now know that her name is spelt Dao but pronounced Yioau, met us just before 9.00am and we were joined by a young couple from Holland, 4 Italians and the 2 older Germans from yesterday. Today was a 12km hike along roads and through rice fields with a lot of ups and downs. It was, mercifully, a beautiful sunny day or the trails would have been deadly. The views were absolutely breathtaking, like something out of one of the advertising brochures, with terraced rice fields rising hundreds of metres up the sides of steep mountains. It beggars the mind to think of the local people rising at 4 or 4.30am then traipsing for 3 or 4 kilometres, pretty much all of it uphill, to put in a hard days graft in ... read more

Our night bus was due to pick us up at our hotel 9.30 pm. We expected that it might be closer to 10 pm. as we were living quite close to the station so might be the last pick up. At 9.30pm a guy on a motorbike came and directed us to wait on the side of the road around the corner from our hotel. 10 pm came and still no bus. Now we were getting concerned. It was meant to leave Hanoi 10 pm. About 10.20 I took a risk missing the bus and dashed back across the busy road to our hotel.
