This was our first trip to Thailand with our little man and we were looking forward to some relaxing, yummy food and lots of swimming. My sister in law decided to come along too as she'd only stayed at the Hyatt before so we hoped to show her what we enjoyed of Patong.
We stayed at the Patong Merlin where we have stayed a few times before and they had upgraded - so the rooms were a lot more modern and nicer than ever before. Very good to show off for the sil :) The pools were slightly slippery and moudly though but with the new expansions these would be tidied up shortly. We had stayed at this hotel prekids and never noticed 2 toddler pools! Funny how your requirements change and we in fact probably made an effort NOT to see those pools before :) They gave us interconnecting rooms which the sil didnt mind so it made for a little bit more space and also we could sit on her balcony at night while the midgit slept in our room - handy!
Our routine pretty much went....go down for breakfast, walk down to the beach and play,
back to the room for a nap while one of us adults went for a massage or some shopping, then a swim and wander out looking for a restaurant for lunch. Then another nap and the other adult went for a massage or shopping then more swimming then a wander along the beach road for a nicer restaurant for dinner. Then midgit to bed and we relax on the balcony with a few vino's.... nice :)
We didnt do anything touristy or slightly organised, just ate lots of local food and wandered around. The best bit of these busy tourist destinations is it keeps kids 100% occupied! Looking at all the motorcyles, all the people saying hello, all the statues and noise...great stuff for toddlers :)
So... a nice little trip with nothing too exciting. But exactly why we love thailand :))
