Maya Bay
Beautiful Maya Bay, where 'The Beach' was filmed It was a terribly early start this morning because we going on a day trip around the Phi Phi islands. We got picked up around 8AM and drove around picking a few more people up before making the hour long trip to the other side of Phuket island. When we arrived there were quite a few people waiting to begin the various day trips. We went to getting fitted for flippers for when we went snorkelling and soon after that we were called onto one of the boats. The order of our trip was changed slightly because of the weather in the other direction, so our first stop was in Maya Bay, where ‘The Beach” was filmed. It took around 45 minutes to get there but it was worth the wait, this place was amazing. Maya Bay has this amazing beach with clear blue water which is surrounded with cliffs of either side. Even though it was full of tour boats and loads of tourists you could still appreciate this fantastic beach We got off the boat and I went for a swim while Hannah watched our stuff then we swapped. The water was beautiful, it was a boiling hot day
Maya Bay
The view of Maya Bay when standing on the beach and the water was perfect for swimming in. I took a few photos, had a look around then it was time to get back on the boat to our next destination.
After getting back on the boat we were offered some biscuits and light drinks while we headed to Pileh Cove. The water was so blue here it’s amazing, in some areas you could easily see the bottom. There were plenty of tourists snorkeling around taking advantage of the clear water. As we left we went past Viking Cove, a deep cave where Vikings once lived and went to Phi Phi Don island. First though we stopped to go snorkelling, as people started getting in the water the tour manager threw bananas in and suddenly fish came from every direction. I got in and swam around when the tour manager threw a banana next to me, I was surrounded in fish, unfortunately for this reason Hannah never went in. I swam around a little longer before it was time to get going again, we all got back onto the boat a continued on to Phi Phi Don.
We arrived at Phi Phi Don got off the boat and
Phi Phi Islands
The incredible waters and landscape of Pilah Cove. had one hour to have a look around this beautiful island. Hannah and I first headed for the beach on the opposite side of where our boat was. We walked through the small street stores and past the markets to another amazing beach with perfect water. We took some photos and walked down the main street then continued back along the beach towards our boat. We bought an icy-pole and got back onto the boat, then headed off to the next island for lunch. It took another 45 minutes to get there and when we arrived lunch was all ready waiting for us. We cautiously ate lunch, avoiding any water and our group split up for the next half of the day (most of them only did the half-day trip). The rest of us got back in the boat and were dropped off on another tiny island for more snorkeling. Hannah and I went in the water but it was so shallow it was difficult to swim around. I then got bitten a few times by a fish and that was it, I’d had enough, I got out, got a drink and sat on some beach chairs for the rest
Viking Cove
The very blue waters around Viking Cove. of the afternoon.
Soon enough it was time to head back, we got back on the boat and took the long hour trip back to Patong Beach and got dropped off at our resort. After we did this trip we decided that going all the way to Phi Phi and back just for one night was a silly idea, so we booked another night at Pacific Club Resort. When we returned after a massive day, we ate dinner at the resort restaurant again and shortly after went to sleep.
