Walking down Patong Beach on a boiling hot day
When we woke up today around 9:30AM and it was already so hot outside. We threw on our bathers and headed down into Patong Beach to have a look around. We didn’t get far out of the resort before we were yelled at by all the touts around. We just ignored them and headed on towards the beach. The beach was nice but not amazing, the water didn’t look very clean either and after putting our feet in could smell it afterwards. It was a long beach lined with hundreds of beach chairs and jet skis. You couldn’t walk very far without every tout coming up to you wanting you to ride their jet ski, or lie in their beach chair. We walked nearly the length of the beach and turned back onto the road to have a look around the town. It was quite dirty and in some places really smelly. We would walk past a line of 15 tuk-tuks and every single driver would ask us where we were going or guess at which country we are from. We headed back to the resort because the heat was getting quite intense and we needed the pool.

We got

back and booked in for a Swedish massage later on in the day then jumped straight into the pool for a swim. Afterwards we ordered some food and drinks and sat looking at which day tours we might want to do. One was a tour around the islands of Phi Phi which looked good so we went ahead and booked it at the hotel. For the rest of the afternoon we did nothing but relax with a Swedish massage and swim. We bumped into the gay guys from oz and had a chat and a few drinks before we left to get ready to go out and get some food. We got changed and headed down to Patong Beach again and had a good look around for food. There were plenty of places but it choosing one that wouldn’t make us sick was the tricky part. We decided on an Italian place that looked safe and the food was pretty good. I wanted to buy some cheap clothes so went to a shop and picked out a few bathers and t-shirts which I liked. This guy wanted me to get more and more but I decided on four items, I

asked what the price was and he said 4300Baht. I almost fell over, I couldn’t believe he made it so high, I laughed and told him 1000B. I spent around half and hour bartering with this guy and finally we accepted 1600B, which was still quite a lot for me but at the same time it wasn’t a bad price. Afterwards we headed back to the resort and headed off to sleep.
