This is now about day 4 of cycling. It feels like I have been on the road much longer: I am getting into a nice routine and I could keep on going like this for quite a while. After a pretty good night, even if I shared my room with numerous critters (cockroach, tiny ants, some kind of wasp and some weird white bugs-thank God I had my mosquito net with me), I left at dawn. It was very foggy and super quiet. The road I was traveling on was almost deserted, and the scenery fantastic. Too bad the pictures didn't turn out because of the fog and clouds, but this kept the morning cool. It gets incredibly hot around 11. People in the most remote villages seem so surprised to see a foreigner, but most ... read more

The next day I hired a motorbike and rode for an hour through the Thai countryside of lush corn fields, rice paddies and banana plantations to Si Satchanalai Historical Park (SSHP). It was a very relaxing ride and a great break from the bustling town of Mae Sot. SSHP is located in Si Satchanalai district, about one hour north of Sukhothai by car. It is also listed as a World Heritage site and considered the sister city to Sukhothai. SSHP is less visited then Sukhothai Historical Park but is just as beautiful, if not more tranquil because of its forest and remote location. It offers similar Sukhothai era temples and monuments located inside and outside the city walls. Structures inside the walls include: •Wat Chang Lom - located in the centre of SSHP. Day number two of our photo adventure! We were both thrilled to have found a travel companion that was also concerned about positioning the diagonal and fighting the bright white sky. Small pleasures for creative minds I guess. LOL! We rode a local bus to Si Satchanali and the bus trip was hilarious. It was us and some local women, several who appeared to be carting items to market. About halfway through our journey, someone took a vote and it was decided we were going to stop for breakfast because everyone was hungry. Nik and I were not included in this vote, but the women were all very concerned that we should eat and kept encouraging us to get off the bus with them. I couldn't bear the thought of food as my stomach was still ... read more

Wat Suan Utayon Noi Wat Chang Lom Wat Chedi Thaeo Wat Khao Phanom Phloeng Lak Muang Wat Nang Phaya Wat Khok Sing Kharon Wat Phra Si Ratanamahathat 今晚坐10点半的夜车到Ayutthaya。 ... read more
