A place sure not to be missed when visit to North Thailand.... Mae Hong Son is accesable by bus (7-8 hours) or by flight (35-40 minutes) from Chiang Mai. We visit on the 16th Mar and return on 18th Mar 2008.... Read Full Entry

after touring by small bike... we final going back to hotel fro rest in the afternoon. we stop by at the market to see what is special there. we found this... is very tasty too...

at 5.35pm local time, we go out again after rest for 1-2 hours and a refreshing shower in a hot day.

Mae Hong Son's most dominant attraction is the temple of Phra That Doi Kong Mu, situated on a hill overlooking the city. The wat was commissioned by Mae Hong Son's first king, Phaya Singhanatracha, and affords lovely views over the city and its environs.

From Phra That Doi Kong Mu, situated on a hill overlooking the city and airport which situated in the city.

From here you can see the pond - known as Nong Jong Kham. Wat Chong Klang and Wat Chong Kham, which sit beside the pond.

This temple is on the incline of Doi Kong Mu, east of Mae Hong Son. Originally named as Wat Plai Doi, it is the most importnat place of worhip here. the temple has two stunning pagodas, the larger one was built by Jong Tong Su in 1860 to house the relic remains of Mok Kha Lana, one of the grest student of Lord Buddha, which were brought from Burma.

Praya Sinmgha Natha Raja, the first Lord of Mae Hong Son, built the second pagoda in 1874.
