Although I had been to Thailand before and had some idea of what to expect, arriving in Chiang Mai I couldn't help but notice more of a difference than I expected in comparison to Cambodia. This tribe originate from Myanmar (Burma) and earn their living from weaving and growing and selling agricultural products.

This tribe originate from China and have been settled in Northern Thailand for almost 100 years.

This shows the 24 metre high gold plated chedi, topped by a five-tiered umbrella enshrining a famous Buddha relic.

This probably collapsed during an earthquake in 1545 and has been partially restored to ensure it does not crumble further.

This is one of the oldest temples within the walls of Chiang Mai old town and is constructed out of teak

All the work in this factory is carried out by hand
