Massage and Yoga in Chiang Mai

Monday was the first day of my massage course, it started at nine but I had to check into the accommodation they provided at eight. I took a red taxi but the driver wasn't sure where it was and wouldn't give me a price. It was five minutes away and he tried to charge me 80b! I said no 20 he said ok not even an argument.
The Thai massage course was for two weeks, monday to friday, 9 till 4. Monday to wednesday we studied the techniques and practised, thursday we had a whole day of practise and then an exam friday. There are only eleven people in our group, a real mixture with everyone doing it for different reasons.
After a day at school a few of us started going to a yoga school for either an hour lesson or an hour and half depending on the day. I love it! I feel so much better after, although I'm not very good at the balancing part which is most of it and its all in Thai so we just copy the person next to us and hope they know what they are doing : ) After yoga we headed over to the street market for dinner before walking back to the school.
Studying again was hard work! By Wednesday night i was dead, and only made it as far as the shopping centre 5 minute walk away for dinner. Thursday everyone spent the whole night revising for our upcoming exam, we even got up at 6:30 to revise some more, we were the good students : ) the previous group said (and laughed).
After our exam friday we had a graduation ceremony for those that had finished their course. It was really nicely done, they each got a certificate for each course they had taken, a white bracket and lots of photos. Our group then went out for coffee and something to eat before two of them left the school.
Monday morning again and it was time to go back to school! My second week at the massage school was pretty much the same as the first. Classes 9 til 4, yoga after at the beginning of the week, practise, practise, practise on thursday then celebrate friday. We had five new students in the class this week and one of our teachers had a tree fall on his head and got an eye infection so had the week off. This meant we had a mix of other teachers and helpers but it was a good week and everyone passed their exam friday.
