On arrival Chiang Mai we settled in a very comfortable guest house; Mandala House with internet in the room and very clean.
In Chaing Mai we took two tours:
One was full day tour to elephant camp, bambu rafting, ox cart riding, orchid and butterfly farms. As you will see from the pictures our tour members ; one Chinese, two Canadian, two from U.S.A. and we two Turks had a lot of fun.
As for the other half day tour we went to the famous temple on the hill and hilltribe village who settled there 150 years ago from South of China (Yunnan). There were few Tibetians among them. They were mainly selling soveinours and planting opium in this village.
Chiang Mai is a beautiful city where you may find everything especially easy shopping city. Every night after 6 pm they open Night Market stands . In order to take place in the Night Market shopkeepers close their shops after 5 pm. There is also Sunday Maket for the hard shoppers.
There are several food streets within the Night Market. We have tried few but Ping Ping Sea Food Market Center seems to be
one of the best.
Old city is also another tourist atraction. There are many cafes, clubs and as usual temples. This old part is framed by a square channel of water.
We tried foot and body massage first time in Chiang Mai. We felt light after the massage. We may try it in another part of Thailand.
We bought our train tickets to Bangkok and thereafter to Surat Thani for further destination to Koh Samui Island. We planned to spend the rest of our holiday at few islands in the South of Thailand.
We missed you all.
