Hi All,

Our second day here we went to the Elephant Nature Park - which really was, a life changing experience for us all. No riding elephants and the touristy thing, we got so up close & personal with these giants, that they were eating out of our hands, we bathed with them in the river, scrubbed them, learnt all about the Thai Elephant and what tourism has done to them and watched a great documentary on what this Thai Lady named "Lek" has been trying to change.

There were about 31 elephants here and all have been either saved from the Parjarm sp? by Lek, or abused by their Mahouts. In some cases Lek has bought them off their mahouts so that they may live as elephants should.

We have since seen a few elephants down the main street of Chiang Mai and near the main temple and it's pretty sad - I must say. But this day was one we will never forget!

Bye for now .... but not forever.... from the Travellin' Willies!
