our rickshaw ride, so much fun Day 10 n 11 - Dec 8/9
Today we leave Cambodia but our flight is not until late afternoon, so we spent most part of the day walking around, there is a Royal Palace here so while walking we think ah would be fun to take a rickshaw out to there, only cost us $2, so we hail one down, the poor man must have been well into his 60's, we both climb in, so funny and scary at the same time, we even had a race with another rickshaw driver, we were all laughing, got some good video footage of that. Anyway,we get to the Palace go to the entrance and realise that its over $6 each, now we are not tight on paying to see sights, but the previous day we had gone to the Killing Fields and they only charged $2, in our way of thinking we would rather pay $6 to go in there and then they use some of this money to help the many beggars that you see around this place rather than pay the Royal Family to see what whealth they have, maybe they don't I don't know, but we decided on principal

tuk tuk and happy driver to the airport that we would not pay that much to go in there so turned around and left. Set off for the airport fairly early and took a tuk tuk to go there, and it only took us 20 mins, we really do love this form of transport in Cambodia, you get to see so much more when your travelling in one of these, they are fun and everyone should try one....
Thankfully our flight left ontime which we are really happy about as the last bus to Ban Phe leaves at 8.30pm and and we are not due to land until 6.20pm. Luck must have been on our side as we land nearly half an hour early, we are seated at the front of the plane so first off and first to immigration, we get our new 30 day visa for Thailand, as long as you fly in you get 30 days but if we had come back in overland then we would only of got 15 days and we still have 18 days left ahead of us yet, so worth it. Manage to get a taxi straight away but it took us nearly 40 mins to get to the East

Goodbye Cambodia... bus Terminal, the traffic was terrible, got there 15 mins before the bus was due to leave, got our tickets, bargain 3 Euro one way, this is good seeing as its a 3 hr journey. Arrived in Ban Phe just after 11pm thank God there was a taxi there, just paid the price he wanted and got to the hotel, we are staying in Nice Beach Hotel, but only here for 2 nights as then off to an Island just off here called Koh Samet. Hotel is nice, room is large but also in need of a good re-decoration but has a lovely big balcony overlooking the see and pool...
Next morning we head down for breakfast, fairly good choice, then go for a walk to find out whats around, more for eating later actually. This resort is very much for Thai tourists and everything is written in their language, so not easy to see what food they do, but we did notice that its mostly street food stalls which suits us fine as that is what we like. We go for a walk along the beach and see at the end some long tail boats and huts so

beach at Ban Phe head that direction, you never know what you may fine there, shoes off walking in the water, great, as we get closer to the boats Im looking out to see just enjoying the smells and sounds when all of a sudden “POP” Im in terrible pain, screaming for Stan to stop, while walking along I had trodden on a nail sticking up from the sand by about an inch and it had gone right in my foot, and it was bleeding quite well and hurt like hell. The locals from the hut came running down and pulled out a big plank of wood from the sand which had nails in it..
After washing out my foot and waiting for the bleeding to stop I hobbled back to the hotel to give it a good clean, thankfully my tetanus is up to date. It swelled up quite a bit but the cleaners at the hotel got all the muck out bless them and I put some betadine on it and its ok now, will just keep an eye on it though...
Found a great place next to the hotel to eat that night, it is mostly seafood here and very cheap

our feet, the sock kept the sand out of my nail hole... at that, unfortunately Stan doesn't eat this but luckily they had chicken and pork, so we had 3 different dishes and rice plus 3 large beers (640ml) for 8 Euro, so cheap and it was really nice.
Tomorrow we are off to Koh Samet, not sure on how the internet connection is there so may fall behind on my blogs... Going to be so nice no moving location for a week,...
