After a leisurely sleep in , I set out on foot to explore Kaosan Road (not to be confused with Khe San) and the surrounding area. Overwhelmed by all the shops, sights & smells, I took the relaxing option of a Thai massage. The group for my first tour Bangkok to Hanoi (Intrepid trip code LSV) met and consists of twelve people. Our leader Vicki Gosling is from Sydney & has been living in Asia for more than five years. Terry is a trainee leader accompanying our group. He is Thai and the remaining ten travellers come from Australia, Canada, Ireland, USA, Scotland, Denmark & Germany.
After the meeting we went out to dinner & started getting aquainted. Those who weren't ready for bed headed out for 'buckets' at the local service station... Confused??? Well by day, this place is a Shell petrol station & after hours it transforms into a resaurant/ sports bar, serving daiquiri's and other exotic drinks in golf ball buckets. The craziest part is you can smoke there! Petrol v's naked flame - hmmm...
