Hello there people and welcome back!
Appologies as we are getting behind on the old bloggage but we will try and keep on top of it just so you can all see what your missing out on! lol
So where were we, thats right we finished our time on good old Phi Phi which we loved altho poor old Scotty was still ill after his trip to the hospital! So from Phi Phi we decided to take the ferry over to Koh Lanta, we had heard that this island was lush and a bit quieter so we were really looking forward to it.
We booked the ferry with our hostel and it cost us 400bht each and we couldnt get it any cheaper anywhere! We rocked up on the boat and we were used to over crowded ferries with people talking up every inch of floor space, this one was very different tho. There were maybe 20 people on board, and while we were sitting there at the dock waiting to leave we were looking out the window and there were millions and millions of fish surrounding us (pics included). So sitting on the boat each of
the touts takes it in turn to come up to us and pitch their resort to us. As im not well i let katie do the bartering and chatting, when i turn round she has about ten leaflets all over here laughing to herself not knowing which one to pic. In the end she opted for a resort where we got an A/C room with tv and hot shower for 400bht a night, well done the misses!
The resort was nice altho slightly quiet and the room was good, i needed the A/C to recover from being ill. We hired a moped and went for a tour.............now we had heard the island was pretty quiet but we didnt expect to be literally the only people there! We drove for hrs and saw maybe ten other people!
We decided to stick it out, and found a very nice restaurant owned by an Irishman, the food was awsome! I had a huge half rack of ribs 2 bits of corn on the cob and chips, for a fiver!
The next day we went for a tour of the island and to its credit the island really is beautiful, however
unlike phi phi and phuket, Lanta hasnt fully recovered from the Tusnami and there is evidence everywhere of the devestation that occured there. The beaches are clean and white sands, however there are a lot of rocks about just under the shoreline.
We just relaxed through our 2 days there and chilled by the pool a lot and sunbathed, (katie burnt herself yet again!) Oh and we lost the room key, that was 6 quid down the drain!
We left Koh Lanta 1 night early because we were slightly bored and went back to Krabi for a night, we went back to the same guesthouse P. Guesthouse (totally recommend it) and crashed the night there, we went out for a bit of grub and had a wander around town but that was it. We left about 3pm the next day to head back up to bangkok, we got picked up from the guesthouse and when we arrived at the bus terminal i realised i had left my sunglasses at the guesthouse so i jumped into a tuk tuk and sped back, only just making it back in time for the bus to leave. I had a bit of
SDC10466
My ribs! a mare in general that day, the Thais are so much smaller than me and i walked straight into a canapy and gave myself a black eye!
We arrived in Bangkok 15hrs later and proper knackered! we found a guesthouse which was 500bht but we didnt care we were so tired so we accepted it checked in and jumped into bed. 20 bloody mins later the old boy at reception knocks on the door and only tells us the room is already booked, so we have to drag ourselves out of bed and go search for another places to stay! Eventually we found a good room it was better and cheaper! So the next day we went and found somewhere to put our passports in to get our Vietnamese visas then went sight seeing. We went to the grand palace and the reclining budha! they were both spectacular altho 350bht each to get in is a little pricey! We didnt realise you had to have your legs and shoulders couvered, so we ended up hiring the most Miami Vice stlye outfits you have ever seen they were proper funny!
That night we were strolling down Koh San Road
and we bumped into Faye and Maria our friends from Phi Phi, we agreed to meet up with them later on. We went for a wander and got chatting to a lad called Brendon from Melbourne, who was a lovely guy and shared A LOT of his whisky with us! after that we called it a night as we had an early start in the morning.....
Until next time people!
Katie & Scott
