Weve arrived in Bangkok, we are expecting this place not be very nice and lots of hassle, but it's not.We are surprised at how nice it is,yes it's very busy and the traffic is chaos but no hassle at all.The hotel is central and very nice,we unpacked and got ready to go out and look around, there's little tuk tuk taxi's everywhere waiting for custom, there's lots of massage parlour's with people all getting foot massages for about 3 pounds. We made our way to the famous Patpong Rd night market, there's every copy of everything, very good quality aswell.Alongside the stalls are many bars with with Thai girls dancing in skimpy bikini's they have numbers on their wrist so you can pick one for a private dance or an evening or a week! all for a price of course, they lots of sex shows and "sticky vicky" type dancing. We never went in,but put my nosey head through the doors,Neil got scared as the women are very friendly!!
We got sat at a bar outside and just watched the hive of activity,it was very entertaining.Next day we went for a massage ( feet only) it was good apart from the fact I'm so ticklish I got more
Thai Boxing
in alot of the bars they have live Thai boxing it was good to watch it of a leg massage it was good.
We were ready to move on after two nights Pattaya is a 2 hour taxi drive away so we hired a cab and Neil got us a good price only 16 pounds for the journey.
Pattaya- a coastal resort we need to be here so we can get to our next destination, Well what a place its the sex capital of thailand I think,I felt out of place as there's not many western women here, it's full of european men (lots of old englishmen) with very young Thai chicks, walking like yong lovers up and down the sea front, there's women for sale all along the sea front and in every bar,They don't actually look like prostitutes as they dress very ordinary and look nice, some are ladyboys infact anything goes here.As Neil and I walked about there was no hassle even in the bars the girls were ok,but the moment Neil went out of the door alone they were chasing him and some grabbed his tackle! He said he was frigtened to death but probably liked it really!! the weather was nice here and there's lots of shopping malls to go to, had a
Pattaya seafront
don't sit there too long Neil them Thai chicks are after your body! lovely facial and haircut here very reasonable.
Next stop Koh Chang - to get there we got in a taxi mini bus from Pattaya it was about 3-4 hours to the port were we got the ferry across to Koh Chang, its an island.
Arriving at Koh Chang we look for a taxi, it was just like a film, dirt roads people everywhere. The Taxis's are
pick up trucks with two bench seats at the back all open with a roof rack on,well inside there was a thai family carrying their pan's of rice, and about another 6 of us all squashed in side by side,Neil put the bags on top which were hanging off at all corners, and we set of up and down big hills and the van struggled, It was funny a man from Austraia kept us entertain with his stories.
We found a small boutique type hotel at the main beach and booked for three nights, it was nice, we had a wonder up the beach to have a look, lots of old beach huts for rent very cheap but not my cup of tea, full of bugs and lizards, even a few monkeys knocking around.Loads of backpackers
about and veryone is friendly.
We booked a boat trip for the next day-what a trip this was, we were pick up by a van( taxi) and a group of us taken to a bay futher down the island as we got to the beach the sea looked rough, they assured us it will be ok , and a speed boat arrived to take us to the cruise boat( real old thing) as we approahed it we went p and the big boat went down, I didn't like this but we managed to all get aboard, no health and safety here!the trip got worse as we set off people were hanging over the sides been sick so the deck hand came round with sea sickness pills and tiger plasters for our tummy's
We got to the first bay for a swim and snorkelling- the coral was fantastic and all the fish, we had a nice buffet then set off again, a storm came the rain slashed in no window's on this boat people were like rag dolls sliding about and being ill,I had to laugh or I would cry,we couldn't get back to where we boarded so the boat took
The Taxi
arriving at Koh Chang us to a small fishing port and a taxi came we all kissed the ground!!!
After a few days here we were planning our next trip,we need to go back to Pattaya to get a flight to Koh Samui another island
Koh Samui- a nice island bigger than the last one, we found a nice hotel at the end of Chaweng beach, we hired a moped and went round the island, there was some nice villages but were in the right spot, this place has a god range of bars and restaurants and a fab beach, they sea is so warm and the sand soft and white. We found a spot on the beach which was quiet and made friends with a lady who has lived here 17 years, she's a dutch lady in here 70's speaks lots of different languages and is very funny. Her name is Cornelia but everyone calls here Mama,I loved her stories about her life.
It was our 25th Anniversary so we decided to go to the buddist monk at the Big Budha for a blessing we had a lovely day, Neil had flowers deliverd to our room for me, which was a nice surprise and we open
lots of cards from Family and friends, we went out in the evening for a nice meal at a hotel on the beach.
We stayed about 10 days on the island met lots of people we really enjoyed it here, it's more for couples and familes we would come here again
As we left the island I gave my lovely flowers to Mama it made her day,we got a flight to Phuket,We were interested to see this place as many of our friends come here,it 's quite busy here at Patong beach we got a hotel and went to look round, the food in thailand is very nice, the thai curries and different rices are lovely, lots of shops and market stalls with copies-not as good as bangkok or koh Samui though, there's lots of thai girls looking for western men with a few pounds, we dont really like it here, but its good to see all the different places,We stayed a few days then booked for Phi Phi island
Phi Phi island is very small no traffic apart from push bikes, its a beautiful place, it was hit hard by the tsunarmi but has done well to recover, with lots
This is Neil
he went in for a haircut next thing the thai girl put a facepack on him and did his nails oh and she did his stinky feet! errrr they do anything these Thai women of nice small hotel's shops and bars, alot of visitors come here for the day here.We hired a water taxi and the man took us to the other island nearby, they was Maya Bay where "The beach" was filmed and a monkey beach also good snorkelling.
We really enjoyed Phi Phi it's worth going to see how beautiful it is.
Next stop back to Patong to arrange a flight to Penang in Malaysia, we loved our 30 days in Thailand it went so quickly as we moved about, for us we loved the island s the best.
