Today's trail would take me from Gayang Station to Gupbal Station. The trail is 16.6 kilometres long and it is estimated to take 6 hours and ten minutes. It is rated at a medium level of difficulty. It would take me through the Mapo and Eunpyeonggu districts of Seoul. It is divided into two sections: Gayang Station to Bongsan Entrance, which is 7.3 kilometres and Bongsan Entrance to Gupabal Station, which is 9.3 kilometres. I came out of exit three at Gayang Station. I remembered this bit form last time I was here and knew where the first stamp box was located. I quickly got my stamp and took the ramp up to the bridge. The first part of the trail isn't very nice as you are walking across a very busy bridge, Gayangdae Bridge, and ... read more

This second year in Korea was a bit different than I imagined, I know things can't always be the same but I didn’t expect to get bored by my time in Korea. No 'bored' isn't the right word for it, I guess 'same same' is the Asian way to say it. Over a year you do just end up repeating the same experiences only a little differently. This year I went to Japan, China and Thailand during the breaks, had a quick ski trip, a trip on the KTX (fast train) to Busan, a day trip to the DMZ/North Korea and enjoyed my second weekend at the Boryeong Mud Festival. Over Christmas most of us decided to stay in Korea and enjoy the ski season, mostly because it was cheap and as I had only just ... read more

Don't worry, blog. I haven't neglected you! I haven't had much internet access lately, and when I have had web access, it's been slow or for a very short amount of time. I've been writing blog posts and saving them in Word for when I have steady internet access to post blog entries and photos. A good chunk of this might be after I arrive home on the 18th, but I'm slowly catching up!... read more

Warm sunshine pelted the concrete surrounding World Cup Stadium this past Saturday afternoon as hundreds of Expats came out for the FC Seoul Annual Expat Festival. Admission to the game included a general admission ticket, a hot dog and beer for 10,000won about $8.70 CAD. Standing inside the makeshift courtyard on the north end of the stadium enjoying a local Expats band strumming 50s swing tunes while people-watching. Shortly we spotted "Mad Victor" standing on top of a short ladder adding spray paint to an in-progress graffiti wall. Wondering through the crowd three tents on the far side stated Brazilian Tacos, Peruvian Rellenos and Mexican Quesadillas. Nostrils smelling sweet scents we stood in line for ten minutes until a man shouted, "I am sorry everyone but we have no more materials. We are sold out," a ... read more

Wow, so it turns out I wasRUBBISH at keeping this blog up to date. I say 'was' because I intend to correct that. Last thing you heard from me I was still in my 1st year in Korea and loving every second, well things didn't change much. My contract came to its natural end at Wonderland School in Mansu-dong, quiet a challange for most people in Korea who get sacked just before the end of 12 months so that their employer doesn't have to pay the months bonus promised! I had such a lovely time there, OK at times I had to psych myself up to go into the class with my worst/least controllable kids, and there was that one incident of the girl peeing down my leg, but apart from that I had a lovely ... read more
