After a few sad farewells we jumped on the plane and headed off. On arriving we found Singapore a very inviting place to visit, but took a few steps too many before finding out that the airport accomodation was on the other side of those doors we just walked through!!! $#!&
As you could imagine this was my fault and although I thought this was part of the adventure Lauran wasn’t quite seeing it that way. After a bite to eat at “Burger King” we did a couple of laps of the Airport until we found the Hotel booking desk. It was a choice between a room for $400 or a room for $50 in the red light district! I thought $50 was great but we weren’t allowed to stay there! After about 15 minutes I found this guy who was in a pickle himself and he managed to find a room for $95 which we ended up sharing with him. So we split the cab fare and room and only set us back $69. He told us during breakfast the next day (which was included in the price) that the area was once a red light district for transgenders.
It seemed nice enough but a little dodgy when compared to where we are now staying. We arrived a little early, which turned out to be great as we were given a complementary mocktail in the waterfall lounge, just because our room wasn’t ready yet.
Once in our room we settled in quickly and headed off for lunch in chinatown. After the trek we found this nice little thai place where we filled up on pad tai and some sort of orange soft drink. By that time we’d had enough of walking and decided to catch the bus to orchard rd to look for some sunglasses for Lauran.
It took a while to find the stores, but once there thought that we probably should have got the sunnies in Melbourne. They all seemed to be about $500 or more, so we just kept on walking.
After the disapointment of being empty handed we took a cab back to the hotel at about 5pm to have a rest before we headed out to tea. The rest then turned into a sleep which when I woke it was a bit late for tea (10pm) so I just went back
to sleep.
Today we wen’t to Sentosa Island. There we checked out “Underwater World” which was just an aquarium but included in the price we got to go to Dolphin Cove where we saw the Pink dolphins doing a few tricks, just like at Sea World, but not quite as good. I put my had up a couple of times to volunteer for the show but the kids kept getting picked!! We also went up the Sontosa Tower which was about 150 meters high, not a bad view of Singapore from up there. So about five and a half hours was enough for us so we called it a day. We Haven’t fallen asleep yet so hopefully we will get to eat tea tonight.
Hope your all well.
Brian & Lauran.
P.S. Don’t be afraid to add coments, we actually read them.
