China Town Temple
Temple is fantastic inside as well as outside. Finally met up with Dave and Henson on the Island of Singapore, Had a great relaxing drive from the Airport, no cows on the road, turn up a the hostel at eight in the Morning to find 2 very Bleary Eyed individuals one looking a lot like Henson. I first thought he may have got up to meet me and had had a heavy night although it turned out he was still on his heavy night and hadn't been to bed! The hostel Betel Box is great, really relaxed, all the staff are great, people friendly, my only wounder is My bunk is about 3 foot from the air conditioning unit and I have to sleep fully clothed! Its in a red light area so we can't drink in the bars unless we want to be propostioned but its all part of the experience.
Singapore is absolutley fantastic, If I could build a custom built country to my own spec It would be Singapore. Its my new favourite place, I can't find anything wrong with it, nothing at all. The people are really helpful, if you look lost or unsure they'll stop and help you, everyone speaks english fluently or to
Singapore Skyline
The small red topped buildings are Chinatown and its just dwarfed by the Buildings behind, Old versus new the point where they can help you. The country is really clean as well, practically spotless for litter and Vandalism, the buildings are all so clean as well, everyone lives in High Rise flats here but none look like the Flats we have! As with India, I feel so safe here, Crime levels are way below Britains, I've never seen anyone playing a PSP on a bus before until now. I get the feeling that in singapore that people feel a collective repsonsibility to look after their country, that everyone has a part to play and it shows.
We went on a tour of the Chinatown area which the hostel organised (free!) for 5 hours which was great, China town from above looks mad, loads of little houses dwarfed by this massive skyscrapers behind it, There's a fantastic temple there although My Camera battery had gone on the way there so all the pictures on here are from Daves camera, I'll take copies of his pictures when I get back. Had a bite to eat in the foodhall, the food is fantastic here, theres food halls where you just choose a couple of dishes and they put it on a
Merlion Park
The Symbol of Singapore. plate with rice, usually its about $2-3 a meal, about pound.
The trip cumulated at the Marina Bay, at Merlion park which has a tiger blowing water out of its mouth, the symbol of singapore. Behind it is the Singapore skyline which is just mind blowing.
We haven't been to little India, I'm not really keen to go as I've just been to Big India so I've given it a miss.
Saturday night we went to Ministry of Sound which was great although none of us brought our passports and we were ID'd so we had to go back and get them from the hostel and when we got back the women didn't even ask to see them! We all got a bit drunk in there, especially when the '1 for 1' kicked in from 2:30 to 3:30 and it got a bit messy. Henson then did a vanishing act for 3 hours turning up at 8 in the morning with a camera full of pictures of the floor and the top of his head next to a singapore flag, I'll do a log with Henson's lost 3 hours photos so everyone can see and hopefully shed some light on
what he thinks he could have been doing!
Yesterday we went to the famous raffles hotel and had the Singapore sling, which has to be done, the waitresses all looked sick of serving the same drink and her face was a picture when we Dave said "have a guess what we want?"
Today we've been down the beach and later we're getting a night bus to Kuala Lumpar, arriving at 4 in the morning, We're now on the mission for the full moon party which is on the 7th, so we'll be hitting that then coming back to Malaysia.
I love singapore and will be really sad to leave here, My budget has been shot to pieces, thankfully they have small feet or I'd be carrying some Nike Trainers as well as the T shirts and Caps but Singapore is fantastic and I'm gonna miss it. Any country with 'no jaywalking' signs is a country I wanna be in....
