Well we went back to KL station and got on our train to Singapore the journey was about 5 hours and seemed to go relatively quick, we got ourselves tickets for the 1st class seating cant remember the cost but wasnt much. Once we reached the border of Malaysia and Singapore we waited on the train and immigration staff boarded and squiggles in your passport I assume this was like our Malaysia Exit stamp. Once the train then headed over the causeway into Singapore island we had to get off the train with all our luggage and queue up at Passport control for our Singapore entry stamp this seemed to take ages for some reason. They wait till everyone is through before re opening the doors for you to re board the train. Once gonig again it was another 10 mins before we reached the final station in Singapore. Once we got off the train we headed to the main hall hoping to find a ATM. But no nothing, there was a money exchange point but no Cash machines also the nearest MRT station . With our ruck sack ons we headed out to find
a ATM after about 10 mins walk in the sweltering heat we found a bank. Luckily the MRT (tanjong Pagar) was only another minute away and ws the line we needed to take us straight to Geylang area where our hostel was. We arrived at Aljunied station and the hostel we had booked in was about 500 metres away except we took the long way round to get to it. The hostel was called Sky Orchids Hostel (96a lor 27 geylang). Eric is the manager there and cant do enough to help you, he is such a nice man. the hostel is on the 1st and 2nd floor we had a privte double room, and was clean and everything was ikea !!! there was a share kitchen and off the kitchen toilets and showers. I think we paid about $180 SGD (£64) for 2 nights so quite expensive but thats Singapore its like Aussie prices. There is not much around near by lots of places to eat but nothing special.
The next morning, we headed out over to Sentosa Island http://www.sentosa.com.sg/ , which was good, once over there, you can get on buses that take you round the island,
there are resorts over there and man made beaches. We headed to the aquarium there which was good. Got to see all the fishes and sharks. when buying the ticket you also got free entry to the Dolphin Lagoon so after we headed over there, we got there in time to watch the show, the dolphins are pink and after we got to have our photo taken with one, i was so happy always wanted to do that. After leaving the lagoon we headed back on the bus to get the train back over to the Singapore Island and headed over to the Raffles Hotel. The hotel is just lovely to walk around, we sat down and had some food and I tried a Singapore Sling !!! expensive but a must !!! after Raffles we headed up the road to Bugis Street market, there are lots of shops and over the road a indoor market where everything is so cheap. After the shopping it started to rain so we headed back to the hostel. That evening we just stayed in and watched a film.
The following morning we had to check out, so we got our stuff together and
Eric let us leave out bags in the hostel whiilst we headed out for the morning. We headed back to Bugis and I went to the market for some shopping, got 3 pairs of shoes for £20 and got some gifts for Matts family. In the afternoon we just stayed at the hostel watching films. About 6pm we had a shower and got all our stuff together and headed to the station to get to the Airport which from Aljunied is only one change so really ideal.
Changi Airport is very nice, we waited till check in was open and put our bags in and headed straight through to departures. Bought some dutyfree extremely cheap !!!! 200 cigarettes for £6 and a litre of vodka was £8. I also treated myseld to some Mac makeup too. Matt got some Diesel aftershave. We had a burger king for dinner as we were pretty hungry and before long it was time to go to our gate...
12am - we boarded our plane back to England...... GOODBYE travels it was time to go back home to reality.
