Saba While majority of Filipinos prayed together as a family, attended Lenten retreats, served the church, extended help to charity and followed the station of the cross or at least kept a Lenten journal for the forgiveness of their sins, prostitution in my country never stopped amidst the observance of atonement. There was no exercise of fasting or abstinence of human lust because of one very common answer- poverty. That is what their justifications are. What abstinence or fasting can be exercised when these poor countrymen of mine are futuristic to what living they would get after the Lenten season? Typhoon Ondoy made me experience what calamity is like

As some of you might heard or not, Metro Manila, Philippines had been greatly affected by Typhoon Ondoy. I encourage everyone to extend any assistance you can to any Filipino friends you have whose families are adversely affected by this calamity. I wanted to escape to a tranquil place. Sometimes, traveling does not assure you your most desired moments of peace and quiet. The weeks before my 28th birthday had been most emotionally exhausting and Cubao, Quezon City, a place I have been living since March 2008 (after my three-year stay in Tokyo), had temporarily lost its appeal. Cubao, crowded and dirty as it is, has always been the most convenient spot in the city where I mostly hang out with friends. It is one of the busiest transportation hubs of Quezon City, and from there you could get to most places in the country, and certainly to all neighboring provinces and islands.
