My family and I went for a quick get-away to a new resort they saw on TV. What’s so special about this resort? Spiderman is there. Amana Waterpark is a newly opened resort (opened on March 28, 2009) in Pandi, Bulacan, about an hour’s drive from our home in Manila. As an attraction, they have life-size statues of comic and cartoon heroes. It was featured in “Kay Susan Tayo” (I think) while my entire family was watching it. Seeing the video with Spiderman perched on the entrance of the resort, my son, literally, went into a pandemonium. So, the first chance I got a day off from work, I booked a van, asked my brother to call the resort and reserve a cottage, and packed our stuff. We arrived at the resort promptly at 9:00am. It would take less than an hour to reach Sitio Lucia in Sta. Maria, Bulacan via NLEX from Mindanao Ave. The place was buzzing with guests since it was Holy Week. The rates were cheap. Sitio Lucia is a great quick getaway for barkadas and families.... read more
My friends and I decided to go to Licao-Licao in Bulacan last weekend. This is our second trip there. We discovered the place last year. It was a short hiking trip that ended in a quaint waterfalls. I wonder what its like to live without electricity. What would be the use of TV? The water was clean and the falls was breathtaking. We had to go down the mountain and trek the river for about 20 minutes to get to the falls. We had fun swimming and taking silly pictures that you will see on our profile. It did rain however ... read more

Forever grateful to family hospitality, I initially stayed with relatives in Alabang, then with cousins in QC, before ultimately winding up in Sta Maria, Bulacan - home base of my mother's side of the family. My father's side is based in Bigaa, now Balagtas. Bulakenos (natives/residents of the Bulacan province) are known for their linguistic knowledge of the Tagalog language. Like any other area of the Philippines, you can tell who has more money than others. Yet, the ones who are not as well off are smiling just as much as the next person. Men wore white t-shirts, jeans, and tsinelas (flip-flops). Every morning, all are drinking buko (coconut) juice. Every afternoon, many are snacking on their first order of pulutan (pub food). Every night, ... read more
