Tubigon Port
Martin, Tess, Janet Cramming! That’s what we’re good at. We didn’t start booking for our accommodation and Ferry tickets until the day before our flight. The Ferries to our main Bohol destination, Tagbilaran City were all fully booked and the hotels were giving us a hard time too. We were able to sort everything out by paying more than what we budgeted and taking an alternative route to Tubigon, Bohol.
Straight from work, we headed to NAIA Airport to catch our 08:00 o’clock flight which took off 20 minutes behind schedule with
(the) Capt. Cuneta explaining, "Hello, this is your Captain. Sorry for the delay, it’s because of some incompetent fools in @&$*#^@%!@(MISSING)* ". Some individuals surely pissed him off. We had a bumpy take off … bumpy ride! I wanted to tell our dear captain ... easy 😊
We arrived at Cebu-Mactan Airport at around 10:00ish, took a Taxi and stayed at Starbucks until midnight. Thanks to Martin’s Friend, we were able to sleep for at least two hours over at her apartment
(many thanks to Caroline for taking the refugees in) because at this moment, we don’t have any reserved accommodation yet. We will sort that out tomorrow.
I
had to force my eyes open two hours after because we were advised to go to the Pier as early as possible to catch the earliest Ferry to Tubigon. By 3:30 AM, we were already at pier 3 just to be told that the earliest Ferry will leave at 5:45 AM
*Faint! Arrrg! I want my sleep!!!*. Quarter to 7:00, we were already at Tubigon Port. We ate breakfast
(yummy native fried chicken) while waiting for Manong Manuel who would be driving us around Bohol. He is a nice chap based in Tagbilaran, but now he had to deal with our re-routing brilliance. He arrived ahead of our agreed time, yay! Then we started our tour.
Our first stop was at Sagbayan Peak for Chocolate Hills viewing
(they’re yet to turn brown in a few more weeks), then another choco hills viewing at Carmen Bohol. I’ve just seen these hills in books and postcards, so it was great to actually see them! Next stop was at the Butterfly Conservation Center with the witty Kuya Michael educating us about butterflies and moths and bugs - unexpectedly, we really enjoyed the butterflies. We were previously contemplating on skipping this one, I'm
glad we didn’t. We also made a stop at a hanging bridge and the man-made-forest.
We went to lunch at the well-known floating restaurants at Loboc River. We enjoyed an hour
(ish) river cruise while eating our lunch
(buffet), listening to serenades and enjoying the lush green landscape. The Busay Falls marked the end of the cruise.
Tarsier viewing came next, YAY again! These poor tiny primates should be sleeping at daytime but then they have to be disturbed by us! They kinda look like master Yoda. We also dropped by Albur, Bohol to have a glimpse at Prony, one of the longest/heaviest python in captivity. She sure is huge!
After checking out old Baclayon Church, we then went to our last stop … Panglao Beach! Wohooo! Just the view of the fine white sand made us go YEEEEY! Thank you Manong Manuel for taking us here! It was almost perfect, only if there weren’t thorny seaweeds and the water wasn’t too shallow. Also, Martin almost got into a fight when he accidentally kicked someone’s drunken face while swimming. We were like:
Me: What’s wrong with that guy? Why is he talking to Martin like that? Is
Pines
Sagbayan Peak he drunk?
Janet: He looks drunk.
Me: Should we help Martin?
Tess: Nah, he can take care of it, the guy isn’t that big.
Me: Okay (o_O)
I know, we are very supportive ...
I’m scared of rowdy drunk people. Good thing the guy had a less intoxicated friend to drag him away from us!
It was a very long day. We’ve seen lots of Bohol but Manong Manuel said there’s still a lot more to see. For now, we have to leave Bohol and tomorrow we are gonna ransack Cebu!
