A Park
... accross the street from where we were staying Thanks to
Manong Manuel for buying our tickets back to Cebu. Our Ferry was scheduled to leave Tagbilaran City at 5:30 PM.
Just an FYI, there’s a sort of Korean invasion going on in the Philippines right now, from Korean soap operas, Korean singers, Korean actors to Korean Tourists, everywhere I go, there they are - lots of them at the Tagbilaran
pier. I definitely don’t have anything against it because they help boost the Philippine tourism and Korean Kiddies are the cutest!
(next to my nephews/nieces and my little cousins.hehe). We were just contemplating, it seems that half of South Korea is already in the Philippines (^^)/ Annyong ha shimnikka! *V sign*
The 2 hours Ferry ride from Tagbilaran to Cebu seemed like foreveeeerrrr!
We arrived in a half lighted Cebu as most of the lights were turned off, in participation to the ongoing Earth Hour activity that day.
Caroline, who previously saved us from sleeping in the streets the previous night managed to book a hotel room for us. Hooray! After a day without proper bed and shower and not to mention, realizing we haven’t brushed our teeth since yesterday, we needed it really bad!
After washing up and resting a little bit, we went to eat dinner at Larshan’s. It is a place with several stands offering grilled food/street food, no spoons or forks - everyone had to eat with their hands. We enjoyed our tasty dinner while inhaling all the smoke coming from the grillroom.
Morning the next day started with a free breakfast courtesy of the Hotel, then we went to hear the Sunday Mass at the Sto. Niño Church. The entire liturgy was in the local dialect
(ouch!). My Cebuano vocabulary is not that great so I spent most of the time deciphering words. Anyway, I got to practice my Cebuano lots so it was all good! After paying respect to Snr. Sto. Niño de Cebu, we checked out the historical Magellan’s cross and then went off to eat Lunch at CNT Lechon Restaurant...the famous Cebuano Lechon! Yum!
We also went to check out the Lapu-Lapu Shrine
(a local hero) in Punta Engaño, Mactan Island and then to the Taoist Temple back in Cebu City which was built back in 1972. The rest of the afternoon was spent hanging out at Asiatown IT Park, drinking Starbucks Coffee again
(except me. Tynnie doesn’t like coffee much).
Compared to Bohol, we were slightly laid-back in Cebu.
We decided to have an early night since we have an early flight back to Manila the next day.
… And early the next morning we were cramming again! We hurriedly took turns taking shower and rushed to the Airport. Our flight was 4:47 in the morning and we arrived at 4:07 with an unexpected long queue of passengers. We tried to cut in the line and begged
(we didn’t want to miss our flight for God's sake!) but a guy who was also standing in the line refused to let us *sob*. If we were late for another 5 minutes, they probably would have given away our seats! Phew! Looking at the bright side, we still made it!
This time, it was a very smooth ride all throughout and we arrived 20 minutes ahead of the scheduled arrival, thank you Capt. Fernandez.
Straight from work last Friday, straight to work today!
