Chitwan National Park & Manakamana

The Wake up call in the jungle was at 5.30am ,"Good Morning everyone". This Nepalese man was knocking on our doors cheerfully. Nikki was suffering with no Iphone, no hot water, no power and this early morning call forced her to state " I nearly punched that man in the nose". However Lou, Nikki and Marco set off on a dawn jungle walk hoping to spot a Bengal Tiger , no sightings the Tigers may have sensed Nikki's mood! I couldn't venture out due to a very sore knee but thoroughly enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere and tranquility. After breakfast we had another elephant ride and saw monkeys, wild boars and Robins on this one. Despite all the hiccups we all enjoyed our short visit to the Jungle and could have soaked the atmosphere up for a longer amount of time. We met our Driver and started our tour back to kathmandu. midway on the journey we stopped at "Manakamana Cable Car". Diary entry' "The cable car was a steep ride up to a famous wish-fulfilling temple called the Bhagwati Mandi. We happened to visit this temple on a Holy day so the Temple was very crowded. There were hundreds of people praying, chanting, offering gifts and lighting insense. Rituals were occuring like the "Sacrifice of the Goats" and I saw a mother helping her son approx. 3 years old , place seeds from a pink plant in the wings of a Dove, ready for flight or sacrifice, I'm not sure. A very Devout religion!" the passion at this Temple was amazing and I don't think I will ever forget the sight of the poor goats lined up to have their throats cut! We continued our journey back to Kathmandu, tired exhausted and looking forward to a sleep in.
