Edit Blog Post
Good evening from Hudhuran Fushi - I hope everyone is well and getting hysterical about Crimbo... I'm not... I'm just exceptionally pleased to be away from it all in the middle of the Indian Ocean and as you know from my previous blog rather than have the hassle of buying a fair few presents that people don't usually want anyway I have adopted a Polar Bear, a Snow Leopard and a Penguin... which took me about 10 minutes online - it is definitely the way forward!
Christmas has arrived in leaps and bounds on the island now, with numerous decorations, twinkly lights and a Christmas Tree... I'm still struggling to accept it's Crimbo though as 32c just isn't what I'm used to in December!
We also have a wish tree - I put my wish on there tonight - I'm not superstitious so I will share it with you... Simply...
I wish the world would stop fighting long enough to all pray for the children killed in Connecticut USA this week... This story broke my heart and I am 100%!b(MISSING)ehind those saying that the media should stop mentioning the gunman/muderer and instead ingrain the name of at least
one of those poor children on our minds! Sadly it wont be the last tragedy but for now my thoughts are with the families of all the victims at what should be a happy time but has been turned into the saddest.
When asked why I hadn't wished for something for me I had to confess to any other wish being banned on moral grounds as it would most probably had sexual undertones involving Jon Bon Jovi ;-)
So this week has been a mixture of ups and downs...
I'm not giving up on my snorkelling and possible diving experience just yet but I did have another rather scary moment a few days ago... Rather than playing safe (because where's the fun in that) and snorkelling in the shallow waters around the island, I agreed - unaided by alcohol - to go on the snorkel excursion where you set off in a boat then just jump in the sea... Even though I can swim relatively well I opted for a life jacket but when push came to shove I couldn't bring myself to jump off the boat... I sat down thinking it would make is less of
a height to jump from but still wasn't quite convinced... in the end one of the guys on the boat literally picked me up by my life jacket and plopped me into the water. If I hadn't been so scared of the 3-4 ft high waves I might have actually enjoyed it... as it was, it was nearly impossible to swim when my whole body was shaking with fear so I promptly got back on board and had a little marlboro or 3 to calm my nerves. SoI think we can all safely agree I am definitely not a water baby... Think Gemini is an air sign - funny that because I'm not keen on flying either.
We also had a massive beach party on the island Saturday night and much (too much) rum and coke was enjoyed... it's always ok at the time but having got to bed at half one and then realised that I had to be up at 0430 I was not a happy bunny... The 6am boat was being rocked all over the place due to high winds and strong tidal currents - not the best course of action when hungover!! And it was even worse coing back!! It was a very good night though, the music was fab, everyone was dancing and having a great time... next time though I need to make sure I am off the following day :-)
Some of you may know this and maybe I have mentioned it before in previous blogs but when the half hour speedboat ride to the airport is rough I sing... really loudly and really badly - well the last few days it has been so bad I have exhausted my Guns 'n' Roses, Meatloaf and Bon Jovi repetoire and resorted to Christmas songs... With Santa Claus is coming to town a definite favourite - I'm just pleased no-one can hear me above the roar of the sea and the engines...
The gym has been ignored again this week, although I did look in there today and it was quite busy - unfortunately no free machines... so I had to leave and head to the bar... I have been working on my tan though...
Cheerio for now, Stay safe everyone and thanks as always for reading...

Aside from the obvious sadness with the deaths of those in Connecticut, you always make me smile with your blogs. Merry Christmas Barbara :) xox
