MALDIVES.Lies in the middle of Indian Ocean, this beautiful country is composed of 26 atolls ( ring-shaped coral reef including a coral rim that encircles a lagoon partially or completely). The visa is upon arrival for most nationalities. You can check online if you need to apply for a visa beforehand just to be safe. The currencies they accept are USD and their own: Maldivian rufiyaa . JULY TRAVEL. We flew to Maldives from Dubai via Sri Lankan Airline. The flight duration was approximately 8 hours, 2-hour lay-over in Colombo. Personally, I enjoyed the flight (it was my first time to fly in the said airline), not to mention it is way cheaper compared to Emirates Airline. My boyfriend traveled 5 days before me since he went scuba diving. He did 8 dives in the span ... read more

Geo: 4.1742, 73.5109We arrived in port very early. When we looked out from our balcony we were surrounded by cranes and container ships. Geo: 4.1748, 73.5089Finishing off our incredible honeymoon in the Maldives was one of the best ideas ever! All inclusive for 5 nights in this amazing setting was definitely an amazing experience and memory. We stayed at The Meeru Resort which is an hour boat ride direct from the airport. Our accommodation was an Overwater Jacuzzi Bungalow and the views were incredible!! We never got sick of the views! Our room was great! Heaps of different marine life would swim by our room, reef sharks, trumpet fish, stingrays, squid and heaps of other varieties of fish, unfortunately no turtles ha.Five days was already amazing but we wished we had more time. We spent our days relaxing on the beach and doing some activities. We went kayaking, we took a scenic flight over the islands which was so beautiful. We took ... read more

WOWW, never thought this was going to happen, especially not this soon. And within my budget. One wishful comment lead to a google search and from there...well we are here! Luckily we did a little research in the few days we had between booking and touching down on the Maldives. This is how we learned it is a Muslim country, which somehow surprised us. I guess we just assumed it would be Buddhist or Hindu. Also (hooray for the world wide web) we wanted to avoid the resorts, due to money but also we didn't want to be in between the rich and the famous and/or honeymooners. This how we got to taking a local ferry for less than a dollar each, and the day after we left for Maafushi, our paradise for 5 days. Paradise ... read more
