Well, time to hit the road again. And it wouldn't be a trip to Asia for me if I didn't have a little snafu. Or in this case, a big one. Some of you may be wondering if my luggage was lost. Again. While my latest adventure has left me exhausted and swollen for a few days, it has not left me without my things. And for that I am grateful. After traveling down to Phoenix for some quality, sushi and Mexican food filled time with my cousins, we drove to the airport around 3pm on Thursday. I had a flight at 530 to Chicago, and then after a nice little layover, one to HK, and then onward to KL. It wasn't quite the direct route I would have chosen, but upon further inspection, I realized ... read more

For 4 years I have been planning to leave the UK and the Finance industry behind to embark on a trip of a lifetime. Things got very comfortable in the UK, with mine and my girlfriends jobs going well and paying well and the purchase of our first house together threatened to derail the dream. However, when the opportunity arose to work and live in Malaysia, we snapped it up and we are now 1 month into our new life in Kuala Lumpur. I am not going to write a blog about the trials and tribulations of moving abroad as this is a travel blog! However, I will provide a summary for those that may be considering it. The admin is surprisingly time consuming and sometimes stressful and the goodbyes are difficult. As we are both ... read more

My parents arrived Sunday July 20, 2014 and hung around Jakarta for three days as I went into work for meetings. It was the perfect amount of time for them to get over jet lag before flying off to Malaysia. Like last year we had a ten day holiday break because of Idul Fitri before the first day of school August 5, 2014. Our first destination was Kuala Lumpur where we paid a visit to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers and the Batu Caves. We only spent one day in the city before jetting off to Langkawi, an island near the Thai border. Over the next couple of days we explored the island in our rental car seeing Eagle Square, Wat Koh Wanararm Temple, Oriental Village, Cable Car, beach hopped, read, played games and swam in ... read more

Hey guess what.......we made it and the flight was fine! bits of turbulence here and there but thanks to Captain Ross I didnt worry about it like I normally would. Adam was still on veggie food though............ We are staying right in the heart of Chinatown which seems a good place to be based and already we have walked miles. Done our usual "shall we just mooch over there"..... We have been up in the Petronas Towers, which was amazing and the view from up there is something else. I visited here 10 years ago and alot has changed since then, including the amount of security things in place now when going to the top. Shame really that this is what our world has become, even visiting such a fabulous building is not without its risks ... read more

Geo: 3.12433, 101.684What a lovely surprise, my Aunt Lucy, Mary, Megan and Catherine were due to arrive in Kuala Lumpur on their way back from Australia after visiting family there. As I was in Malaysia at the time I had no hesitation to jump a bus down to see them for a couple of days, it would be the first family I've seen in 3 years! It's funny, people don't change a bit, it was like seeing them only yesterday and I couldn't wait to catch up on the family gossip (well there is a few of us you know)!I arrived on the overnight bus from Kuala Perlis in the north of Malaysia and thankfully managed to sleep most of the night, I checked into a Backpackers when I arrived and grabbed a shower and breakfast before ... read more

Was will man mehr?

Hello all, (Today is my birthday and I am in the Kuala Lumpur Airport waiting for my flight to Australia. I have a month to see a little of this large continent and my goal is to dive the Great Barrier Reef.) Last night I spent a very restful six hours sleeping in a packing container. I am so happy to find this inexpensive way to get a good night’s sleep in the airport without crashing on a couple of uncomfortable chairs, or on the drafty floor. I usually space my flights several hours apart to ensure I have time to get to the gate when I transfer planes. In this case I took a seven o’clock p.m. flight to Kuala Lumpur because a later flight got me to the airport with only half an hour ... read more

http://youtu.be/IZcm6gUelAE http://youtu.be/ILssi2Xsy1s I spent my Christmas Eve alone for the very first time, going back to Kuala Lumpur from Singapore, it’s also what I wanted coz’ I don’t want to celebrate or feel Christmas in any way, that is why I just want to isolate myself from everyone and just allow myself to be alone on this most important Holiday of the Year. I got the best seat of the bus again, infront of the bus’s second floor. I had a very wide space where I can just raise both of my feet up high and have that pleasurable comfort, another six hours ride departing from Singapore at ten in the evening and arriving at Kuala Lumpur Malaysia at four in the morning. I went back to my accommodation at Berjaya Times Square Hotel and just ... read more
