Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur (part 2) – A very random week involving my own little white Christmas and drift car madness. Following on from Brunei and the Outer Peninsular of Malaysia it was time to head back to Kuala Lumpur for six days before my flight back to Bangkok where I will be spending Christmas and New Year. I didn’t really have a great deal planned for KL as I had been here a few weeks back and apart from trying to go up the Petronas Towers and going to the Batu Caves I was wandering how I would pass the six days. Well this soon became pretty easy after instantly meeting to really nice guys called Tim and Stephen. They were pretty much in the same boat as me with none of us knowing what ... read more

We had been planning our Christmas trip away for a few months, unlike our usual last minute preparations because one of our old uni friends from the UK, Dave, was coming to visit us. We set off for Singapore on a 7am flight with a full day of travelling ahead of us. Our source of amusement for the majority of the 3 and a half hour flight was the announcement that it was one of the cabin crew’s birthday…the laughter from us wasn’t because it was her birthday but because her name was 'Pringles'. We had an interesting discussion as to what her middle name might be – sour cream and barbeque were the main contenders. Singapore to Kuala Lumpur We breezed through the Swiss clock that is Changi airport, Dave was there waiting to meet ... read more

Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur - A family reunion a few thousand miles from home. A visit from my parents had been planned for many weeks and we had coordinated schedules several times to ensure I would be at the airport to meet Mum and Dad who would bravely (or foolishly) travel with me for ten days. Well I think it's fair to say I'm renowned for being an over the top planner as are my parents, this is why I was a little surprised at the airport when I asked where I could find the arrival area for the KLM flight from Amsterdam and their response was not here, different airport???? Not once did we consider KL has two airports and needless to say I landed at one and my parents at the other, Rodders you ... read more

Singapore to Malaysia After an amazing calm flight to Singapore Changi airport on an A380 air bus (seriously, the plane was amazing, comfy and so spacious) our first impressions of Singapore were that it was so clean and so pretty - the buildings reminded us of Las Vegas, all lit up and huuuge! We got a taxi to our hostel ‘The five stones’ which was a brand new hostel, really nice and modern.. Once we had checked in, we went to our 6 bed dorm to see who we would be sharing with and were chuffed when we realised that we had the entire room to ourselves, yes! We went for a little walk around the boat quay and decided to go for a drink in one of the bars behind the boat quay.. We later ... read more

Saturday, 19th November 2011 Thinking of 那些年 when I first travelled to Kuala Lumpur with Mr L on my first overseas vacation, it brought back nice travel memories of those days. And watching 那些年 again on the big screen today at Kuala Lumpur, 看的依旧是那份感动. 我想每个人心中都有属于自己的那些年. 我想就是这些那些年才让自己的人生多了一份精彩,多了一份感动. After breakfast this morning, we decided to bring SY to our favourite haunts in Bukit Bintang. First on our itinerary was a visit to the Farenheit 88, a new mall opposite the Pavilion. This was formerly known as KL Plaza where it used to house big names like the Planet Hollywood and Tower Records in the 1990s. Today, this is home to KL's first Uniqlo Store and some other shops targeting to the young at heart. At the Pavilion Mall, we checked out our favourite snow flakes desserts which had ... read more
