I Passed!
Ste after passing his PADI diving certificate Hello there!
Well since the last time i wrote, we have been busy bee's.............................
Ste passed his Padi diving course with flying colours, it was so much harder than we both thought it would be. He had to take a 50 question exam and do all kinds of skills in the water like take his mask off and clear it off the water then put it back on again! Something that i certainly could not have done!! So now Mr Conner is able to dive as a qualified diver not just a fun diver.....very posh hey! I am very proud of him!
Although Ste did not see any turtles whilst diving we took a snorkeling trip around the island and got to see them! I was taught to snorkel by a very patient teacher bless him it took me a while (as with everything) but now i can do it and love it! I insisted on wearing a life jacket at first in the big deep ocean, and we were also on the smallest boat ever with a fab guy called Matt who took us! Just our own private trip. Anyway waffle waffle..............We firstly went to a
Snorkelling
Ste and Matt after 5 hours of fish fun place called shark point where all the sharks hang out................this is where i learnt to snorkel ha ha ha, we did not how ever see any reef sharks that live there. Apparently they are very shy animals and like to hide in the rocks. Next was a place called fish garden as in the name it was just full of fish loads of bright colours, Matt had brought some crackers with him so we could feed them! Then onto turtle point, Matt just knew exactly what he was looking for......we were told to look for dark blobs in the sea! So at this point me and Ste were hanging from the smallest boat ever looking for dark bits................needless to say we did not spot any but Matt did as soon as he saw something he was off the boat Ste followed with his snorkel. I stayed aboard our vessel armed with the camcorder! We watched a few to start with i could not really see them at first then out of no where one came up out of the water for air! Oh my god it was amazing they are so huge and to see them in the wild was
Dr Dolittle
becky with cat and sheep....... spectacular. Ste swam right down with them and said it was something else.
After all the turtle excitement, me nearly falling off the boat screaming with the camcorder! ha ha ha we went for lunch. Lunch was at the local village where Matt lived we had the usual rice with egg and veg! This time we had some very odd guests join us at the table...............i would just like to take this opportunity to tell you about the animal goings on that have been happening! Basically every where we go i attract a fair few animals around me it doesn't matter where we are or what we are doing on this particular occasion i had a cat on my knee then a random sheep turned up to join in! yes a sheep like you would see in wales not on a Malaysian island!!!!! I ended up feeding him the veggies from my rice he was so gentle! On the animal front we also had a resident lizard living with our bags in the wardrobe who scared Ste to death when he found her! Then we have also befriended a black and white kitten called Joe, he has sat with
So Easy
Bex after her tough day out us every night whilst we have had our Fresh king fish in butter garlic.................obviously we fed him some as well! On top of all that we Huge lizards that roam around the beach, we thought that it they were crocodiles at first glance!!!
Got a bit side tracked then sorry, After lunch we went to the islands lighthouse. Now a lighthouse to us is quite large and stands out a mile, this one was tiny and we could climb onto it! The lads jumped off it from the top. At the lighthouse there is the best coral on the island! Part of the coral has been killed by over diving snorkelers and boats. If you just clip a small piece of coral the whole thing dies and takes 20yrs to grow back................it is so sad as so much of it is already ruined and will never grow back, people need educated in this and it should not happen! They are building a large jetty on the island which is going to be an eye saw and bring in far too many tourists, none of the locals want it but the government are building it so they have no choice
Tiger Fish
they swim up and eat from your hand! in the matter. Once we had visited the lighthouse we made our final stop at romantic beach, named this due to it being so quiet, the water was so clear and full of life including these horrid sea cucumbers that are all spongy and Ste through one at me!!!!!!
Ste did his final dive yesterday at a place called 'temple of the sea'. It is a large rock that is temple shaped that is home to so many fish he saw sharks, trigger fish, sting rays, angel fish and puffer fish and nemo made an appearance too! I wish i had the confidence to go do it maybe in Bali????? we will see hey. After his dive i packed whilst he played Chess with our new friend Matt (the snorkel trip guy) who is great at the game and beat Ste most of the games! Then it was time to say bye to the Perhentian islands 'boo boo'! This place has given us a real holiday chilled out feeling...............for those of you who think that we have been on holiday since we left you are wrong ha ha ha! We have done so much sight seeing, on buses, off
Silly Snorkellers
Was a great day out buses, onto boats then a train................it has been so nice to relax somewhere so beautiful where you felt like you knew everybody on the island as it was so small and personal, all the locals said hi to you! we are very sad to have left but i am sure we will go back in the not too distant future. Thank you Lyke and Maarten our Dutch friends who told us about this place you were spot on!!!!!
