After a long sleep in the cave, the second begins with smoked-tasted toast from ubai with jam and hot chocolate or tea. This trekking was more relaxed, no burning boat ride. For midday we've made our lunch at a river with kind of sea. Here we were going for fishing and some more liane action. For the last we make a short stop at the orang asli, the origins who are the only ones who are still living in the jungle. They are able to make fire and constructing blow pipes. With the poison of the plants they are hunting for animals in the jungle.... read more

From Taman Negara to the Cameron Highlands was a small adventure. In the morning we took the local bus to Jerantut for 7 RM (1,5 euro). In Jerantut there are no direct connections to the Cameron Highlands. So we took the train to drive to Gua Musang, a stop-over town between these two regions. But also there are no public transports to the Cameron Highlands. But at the train station a malay was asking us 'where you wanna go'. For 150 RM (30 euro) he offered us to drive us to the CH. At this journey Andi the Trier from Germany joined our journey and the time in Cameron Highlands. We arrived late at 17 o'clock, and after the 3rd accommodation we found a room to stay. But just for one night, the whole was very ... read more

We've booked a two days and one night tour for the jungle. But first we make a walk over the canopy walk, a hanging rope bridge with ladders, elevated 45 m above the ground. Our tour guide is 'Ubai', 'Dubai?', 'No, Ubai', 'Ah Ubai' :). He leads us through the jungle, 3 people were getting lost there, 2 were found again, the one has been in the jungle for 90 days. And Ubai cooks for us delicious meals. The beginning of the 2day-trekking tour was horrible. In the blasting sun (38 degrees C) we had to ride with the boat 2.5 hours to the starting point, the sunburn was guaranteed. On trekking in the jungle the biggest obstacles were fallen trees and small rivers. One way to cross them, by using the lianes and swing to ... read more

After we arrived at Kuala Lumpur central train station we boarded a packed monorail to Titiwangsa station were the Pekeliling bus station is based, we then boarded a rather plush coach - typical of Malaysia, to Jerantut for RM 19 each. Jerantut used to be a bustling gateway town, a transit between the east and west coast but it has since fell in insignificance due to the creation of the east coast highway which travels a little further south. Jerantut is a small little place which has a bus and train station, a central market and the usual amenities of a small little town including a KFC, but more importantly for us it was the gateway to Kuala Tahan and Taman Negara National Park. We had an hours wait for the local bus which run us ... read more

I arrive at Kuala Lumpur without feeling too overly excited, having stopped there two times before, and roughly knowing what awaits me. The bus ride to the city and the train ride to a suburb are quite hassle-free. When I walk through the exit gate of the train station, a mean-looking conductor motions for me to throw my ticket into the bin so I can't reuse it. Interesting system. When it comes to getting a taxi, though, I'm a bit at a loss as to how that system works. People seem to queue up for taxis, at least some of them, other ones are just hanging around. There are not enough taxis, so I have to wait for half an hour until I get one to drop me off at my host's place, which is a ... read more

After our trip to the islands of my dreams, we went directly back into the jungle. Taman Negara is a famous national park in central Malaysia which belongs to the oldest forests in the world. It is already 130 millions of years old. Supposedly, many wild animals like elephants, tapirs, wild pigs and even tigers live in that jungle, though we didn’t spot much more than some squirrels and monkeys. We were also not very lucky, because the popular canopy walkway (hanging bridge) was closed while we were there. Oh well… bad luck! But I was also a little bit disappointed by the people interfering with the nature there. They just built a big hotel in the middle of the park which does not really fit there at all. I guess we should have hiked a ... read more

Ok. To je ze prevec smesno. Sedim v nekem internet kaficu nad restavracijo, stanujem pa pri lastniku vsega tega kompleksa za to noc. Srfam in jem in pijem in spim zastonj.

Following our easy week spent on the beach we decide to go Rambo style and head for the jungle. With the possibilities of encountering dangerous snakes, "small" big cats and flying squirrels amongst the many other species of wildlife it should be an exciting change. 0345am we are woken by our superb Kota Bahru guest house (ideal travellers guest house) host to taxi us to the train station to catch the Jungle Train to to Jerantut - jumping off point for T.N. We had promised to be awake on time but as Yoan and I were carrying on alone we felt it only right that we share a few beers with Marc. Finally hitting the hay at just before 1am we shouldve known that wed sleep through the alarm! The train departs Kota Bahru at 0415 ... read more
