Fortunately, in our Malaysian roundtrip we also included a place called Cherating, because here, we found another little paradise. Cherating is a small sleepy village on the ocean where a lot of surfers show their skills during the monsoon season. Since I have never tried surfing before, I wanted to give it a try. And a white sandy beach and good waves made it just perfect for that. After our trip to the islands of my dreams, we went directly back into the jungle. Taman Negara is a famous national park in central Malaysia which belongs to the oldest forests in the world. It is already 130 millions of years old. Supposedly, many wild animals like elephants, tapirs, wild pigs and even tigers live in that jungle, though we didn’t spot much more than some squirrels and monkeys. After the cold days in the Cameron Highlands, I was really looking forward to get back into the sun. And the Perhentian Islands in the North seemed to be just perfect for that matter. On the 10th of October we finally managed to leave Kuala Lumpur to see other regions of Malaysia. At 10am we started our trip to the Cameron Highlands where we arrived a couple of hours later, luckily without any accidents.
