Well I guess that some people who read this site think that traveling should be done in just one way. That things that draw allot of backpackers are too touristy and that while traveling no one should have fun. Well sorry to tell you to those of whom it may concern, you are able to do some things that are fun and relax for a while, while still traveling around taking in the culture and interacting with local people. I don't believe that I said that my sister and I where drunk while on the river we did have a few drinks yes but that is half the fun. And guess what the tubing is supposed to be fun. The tunnels in Saigon the killing fields in Cambodia not so much about having a few drinks and a laugh but tubing down a river and stopping for some drinks is, it is about FUN. I think that a person who judges how others travel most likely is someone whom is too full of themselves that they most likely miss out on opportunities to really experience the countries you are visiting because you are too worried about walking the beaten track.
So please if you don't want to know about how I travel don't read my blog. It is not a guide on how to do things it is just a look into how I do.
So after our FUN tubing time in Vang Vieng we took the morning bus to Phonsavan. It was a not such a great ride since as we got higher in altitude the more my ear started to throb. By the time we reach site one of the plain of jars I thought me ear drum might burst. Since we had little time left we choose to visit the plain of jars on the rainy afternoon that we arrived. After a few hours of fun picture taking and slightly hyper exploration we headed back to town for our first meal of the day. After dinner we headed back to our hotel since the rain had not yet stopped and by 8pm the town was almost back.
The next morning we took a local bus headed for Luang Prabang for our last few days in Laos and in hopes to find Aaron our muffin from the gili islands. The second goal ended up being easier
then we thought it would as we found Aaron drinking at a bar at the top of the night market. After a few drinks ( but not for me as I was now on antibiotics) at that restaurant it was 11:30 and since there is a night curfew and bars must close we headed to an after hours place called the Vietnam bar which is really just a few tables in with milk crates for seats and cheap drinks, that pays off the local police so it can stay open till three.
The next day Addie and I went to see this beautiful waterfall. It was unbelievable. Not just one large cascade but multiple ones down and across this cliff. We walked up to the top of the larges fall, well walked climbed up since half way up we lost the path and soon found ourselves working up a slippery muddy slope. The top was well worth it though, great view that went on for ever, and a very sketchy railing right on the edge to hold onto so you didn't fall to certain death, while trying to look down.
Of course it started to rain when we
made it down to the pools below because it was time to swim. So again we swam in the rain, it really has become one for my favorite things now, swimming in the rain.
That night we meet up with the girls who we had gone to the falls with for dinner and when we were finishing Arron and Adine came strolling by. Since it was our last night there we spent most of it walking the night market for last minute buys. The boys kept up with us for a little while but eventually just had a seat on the side or the road and waited for us to be done. After shopping we went back to theirs to have a bear on the balcony (still not me because of the meds).
We had so much planned for our last day but really did nothing. Had a nice lunch, walked a lot, got caught in the rain and pack all our new stuff into our bags. The tuk tuk picked us up for the bus at 6 and when we got there they almost didn't let us on the bus saying it was full. After a bit
of persuasion, being us literally walking on the bus finding seats and not getting off, they realized that there was room and we head off to Vientiane.
We grabbed a nice room for a few hours of sleep and the booked our bus ticket to Bangkok stocked up on goodies from JoMa's bakery (anyone in Vientiane or Luang Prabang must find it because it is wonderful!!!) we were on the bus for another overnight hull.
