Hi all! Had a busy week. Work was good all week. Starting Tuesday George was almost jumping out of the car he was so excited to come to camp! Sad that it was a few kids' last day today - I'll miss them. Took some cute videos and pictures.
Went to Tokyo Tower (like the eiffel tower but taller) on Tuesday. Did go all the way to the top, it was 820 yen or around $8 to go half way up so we just dd that. Went right after work and saw it at day, then stayed for sunset and night time. Really cool to see the town that far up! Saw the outline of Mt. Fuji! It was a little cloudy but mostly a clear day, thats why we went and were so excited to see mt. fuji. All of the girls from panther cubs came. Haley and I bought the noppon brothers which are stuffed animal twin brothers that had a bio in our brochure and are taking them every where we go and taking pictures of them. 😊 Just a fun little thing to do😊.
Went to Tokyo Disney Sea Wednesday after work. The day camp
went there for their field trip so we decided to go meet up with a few aquatic counselors (chelsea and tyler) that were there. It was about $30 to go from 6 -10 so not to bad. We stopped to eat at a place by the train station so we didn't have to pay a fortune inside. Then we took the disney train to disney sea - tokyo disney land is right next to it. The train had mickey mouse handles, windows, the whole works! Once inside it looked like Italy! Went on 6 rides: Tower of Terror (I thought my eyes were going to pop out of socket), The journey to the center of the earth (really neat - under ground in a cave with neon lights that showed creatures then when not expected you dropped out of the cave!), Indiana Jones ( I remembered part of it from when I went to it in CA but it was still cool), The raging spirit (a roller coaster - really fun with a 360 loop and spiral but really short), The storm raider ( like your on a helicopter and go in the middle of a huricane - pretty cool),
and 20000 leagues under the sea (a submarine, looked at the sea creatures, pretty cool). They probably all had scary stories but everything was in japanese (except important things like buckle up) and the japanese don't sound scary when they talk so it was kind of funny at times, except when the drops came. On the tower of terror I was looking at a pretty view of Tokyo Disney with a happy face when they took the picture so the pictures pretty funny. Its right before you drop. Saw the water and fire show - really cool - and saw mickey ride away on a boat (couldn't take many pictures at night of him). Then after the show was fireworks. They had every flavor of popcorn you could think of - capacino, strawberry, chocolate, etc. Didn't get any because they started to close right when we wanted it. Walked through Arabian nights and took pictures on a camel from aladin, a lady working was nice and came and took a picture of all of us (Haley, Me, Cassie, and Amy). Then walked a little throught mermaid land but didn't get to do much because the park was closing. Was really
pretty at night. Had a lot of fun, didn't get home until 11:30 though.
The kids made a huge tower earlier this week and told me it was the jess tower. We asked for them to get together one of the days thinking they'd just group together for the picture. But then Kojiro grabbed some chairs to sit on and soon they were organizing the picture with 3 rows of chairs for the picture. So cute because they did it all by themselves, all their idea! Thursday went really well. We found out a way to block off the kitchen area so the kids can't get in it and it works! They make such a mess in it and dont' ever listen when playing there so this was really nice to do. We started giving them 3 choices at free time: books, coloring, puzzles. Yesterday most colored and they kept giving us tests! They would draw hearts and a line and we had to count the hearts on a line and write the number next to it... Kept them busy the whole day! So cute. I made Taiyo a picture and wrote "To: Taiyo From: Jess" He put it
away and then made me one and all my him self wrote "Jesso :Taiyo) cute! Today was a few of the kids' last day today 😞. This morning Taiyos mom handed me some papers and told me it was his last day (hard to understand her at first but I got it) I opened it and it was a picture for each of us! Each Eimy 😊 thats how they spell it in Japanese, and me. So cute! Today they made teacher butterflys! lol. They started it for Miss Amy and drew glasses since she has glasses then made me one😊 On one of my tests Taiyo wrote my name on it... he couldn't remember how to write the s so I showed him but he knew how to spell it. I'll miss him lots. Took cute videos. Had a few breakdowns but other than that the day went well. I like our free time system because it makes it easier for us and we're able to play with the kids and its so fuN! We had a bbq and had hotdogs and hamburgers. We made dirt cups! since it was bug week. We told the kids it was dirt
and they didn't want to eat it because they thought it was real dirt! 😊 but once we told them it wasn't they liked it. I think I ate like 5 gummie worms in a minute because they were all eating them with a spoon and I had to show them how to eat them with their hands! They don't eat much with their hands here. We did the shaving cream today with the other class and that was fun too!
Am doing laundry now, going to Nikko tomorrow - leaving at 6:45 am!!! Staying the night at a japanese hotel and coming back Sunday night. Should be a fun weekend! There are lots of shrines and onsens (hot baths) and such.
