Went out in Roppongi on Friday and met up with Haley's sister (she is doing camp in yakota, japan). Had 3 extra people in our room but it was no big deal. Slept in and were lazy until about 1 on Sat, then Haley and I went to Yokohama which is about 1 hr away. Haley and I got lost and walked up and down the same street for about an hour looking for Chinatown when really it was just 5 mins in the other direction. Stoped at a store that is pronouced Donkey Hota (I dont know how to spell it) and it was neat because it just has a variety of all sorts of things from electronics to food (like a very very condensed walmart). Walked around the shopping district then went on to Chinatown, pretty neat, saw a big shrine and went through all sorts of shops, they had lots of pandas. A lot of the stores here are 5 floors with a diff. store on each floor. After Chinatown we went to a different subway station and were waiting for Haley's friend Chris who she goes to school with in San Deigo but is from Japan. We
walked around this huge station that is 2 buildings and 5 floors tall with tons of stores and restraunts. Longest escalator I'd ever seen it went like 5 floors w/o stopping! And I saw a curved one too. When looking for a place to eat we saw these Japanese dressed people on a stage and went and watched. It was this crazy drumming and dancing, really awesome. We stopped and ate and didn't understand the people and I ordered and ate fried octopus - pretty good. Walked around all the stores until Chris got there then walked outside (kinda rainy) and saw a huge spiral statues. We walked around the amusement park and rode on a huge ferris wheel. It was night so it was really pretty to see the town with all the lights. It was inclosed so the windows got a little rain drops but we were still able to see, but it was really neat. Then after that we went to another subway station (all in the same city - pretty big) and went to a restraunt where you pay for your things in a vending machine and out pops a ticket that you take to a
counter. We saw a huge store with a bunch of plachinco machines too - when the door opened it was soooo loud! Got back to the hotel around 10 -10:30. Had a good day.
Had a lazy day yesterday, just stayed in the hotel and worked out - it was really rainy, so we didn't want to do much. Was nice to relax!
Had a good day today...
Started off that George just barely wimpered and didn't throw up at all! Barely even cried! I think its because he got a girlfriend on Friday and today they were holding hands and hugging and holding each other around the waste😊 cute. Talked to his mom after camp because there weren't very many parents there yet and told her that he was doing great and I'd make sure to get her the website that she can look at pictures of him at camp (they have one set up where we give them our pics and they put it on a site so they can buy the pics) she liked that idea and was happy that he was having fun and making friends (i left out the girlfriend part). She
was worried that he couldn't speak english but i reassured her that he was doing just fine and communicated very well with us and the children. This morning went by extremely fast! Did a spider web art project (its bug week) and then went to the playground, also went to the pool this afternoon (that makes the afternoon drag on because most of the time is changing/putting on sunscreen). But it went well. Only had a few new kids, the rest were here last week (not all came back however) but it made today go by a lot faster because they knew the rules and schedule. They all seem to have a great time. They dont get the themes though - its just more posters and such, but i pointed the new ones out today (the huge spider web on the ceiling that i made), and they thought that was neat. We eat lunch with the kids and I asked a few from the older class about where they were from and some said they didnt know but some said they had lived in Greece then Japan... they say "I was born in Virginia America" cute.
