entrance hall
entrance hall of Saimyoji temple These days I am based in Mashiko town in Tochigi Prefecture. Mashiko town is known for its pottery. I have just visited the place once because Im not really interested in pottery although their creation is great. Local and foreign tourists flocked to this area and last summer I was dropping by this place and catched a glimpse at their mascot.
last summer also my husband brought me to Mashiko Nature park where the Saimyoji Temple is located. The place looks ancient and lush surrounded by huge trees and the structure itself is wooden that makes it so interesting. It was rebuild many times and some devotees trek to pray or do some sight seeing. There is a high stairs leading to the entrance and pagoda. Inside the structure we can see intricate wood carvings on the walls and ceilings. Outside at the garden, theres a lot of statues and a water fountain for washing hands used by Buddhist devotees.
This place is a refreshing getaway for meditation and sight seeing
