Sorry I haven't written in about a month or more haah. Been rather busy and whenever I tried to write a blog my internet page exited out, which was annoying and weird. But here we go. I'm rather excited for today because Jill, Urara and I are going to watch Narnia 2! Which turns out is out now and not in July. Lol Wakaba... This past week has been alot of fun, the school was having exams alll week which Jill and I don't have to do, so on Monday and Tuesday it was half days and we mostly just studied Japanese, and then on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday we went to an elementary school in Suzuka, called Meisei. It was amazing! I had so much fun, the kids were adorable and lots of fun. We ... read more

Sorry its been a while since the first one.. I just got internet for my lap top!! So far everything has been great, Wakaba's family is so nice! School is good, so far we aren't going to our classes but we will starting next week, although we have gone to a couple classes a few english classes and a math class.... which looks very very hard. Hey everyone! I am finally able to get to a computer. Jill and I are having alot of fun, but everyone is speaking english to us... well sorta hahaha. Its soo cool here! I really like it. Today Jill and I went to school with Kazuma and Wakaba, their school is huge!! At least 10 buildings and over a thousand students. Oh, and it only takes 40minutes to get to school, which is really weird because they said it took 2 hours... haha oh well I won't complain about that! Today also Jill and I had to do a speech twice, the first time infront of about 20 students and then the second time infront of 300 grade 11 students, I was shaking like crazy ahahah. Well anyways I better go because I think the internet ... read more

Hey guys, this is the second instalment of the Cloke and Bron world tour! We have been busy the last 2 weeks!!! After tokyo we went down to chill with our mates Crouch and Dips (who live here) in a place called Ise. It's a small little city and has a really cool feel to it, like everyone knows everyone!! Crouch and Dips have some awesome friends here, and most of them are Japanese so we are learning a bit!! Cloke knows how to order 2 draft beers!! One of their mates owns a really cool bar called Nanaimo (named after a street in canada but pronounced wrong in Japanese means 'nothing'!) The bar owners' name is Kentoro, but most of you who know me will know that everyone soon has a nickname, his is Cointreau!!! ... read more

Arinko Farm is not yet a reality, but Masako and Koji are working on it. They have a patch of land (0.7 hectares) on a hillside surrounded by a bamboo forest overlooking mostly rice fields and the outskirts of the small town of Shimaisobe. It is beautiful scenery and when the wind blows you can hear the gentle clatter of the bamboo. Its all very calming in an inscence and bead curtain kind of way. Masako has a big interest in Permaculture and Ecology and wanted to build a small farmhouse on the land they purchased. Planning permission arrived while we were there. (My being there and the arrival of planning permission are in no way linked - its purely coincidence - I hold no sway with Mie Prefecture local government). Construction won't begin on the ... read more

Asia » Japan » Mie » Uenoshi June 16th 2006

We made it! After a non-starter on Wednesday and a wash-out yesterday (rainy season finally kicked in big time), today we finally got to the much anticipated Iga Ninja Museum in Uenoshi. The skies had cleared completely by this morning and the day's forecast was hot and sunny, so off we went. It was a long journey to get to Uenoshi from Osaka, involving 4 trains and a fair bit of waiting - very unusual for the Japan rail system is so wonderful. The journey was still fun though as we got to stop off in some really out of the way places and amuse ourselves by photographing knackered old vending machines and odd-looking trains. I know it sounds dull but you'll understand why we did it when I post the pictures... Anyhow, 3 and a ... read more
