So this is going to be my last night here in Pondicherry, and i am going to miss it like mad...i love so mant things about it, and have really gottern used to the Indian ways of doing things that it is really going to be hard to go to another Country and get used to their way of doing things. I am so happy that i ended my trip in India on such a good note, i am also most forgive all the horrible men and the heat that hotter then anywhere i have ever been before. I have even managed to get some clothes made for me, as the Indian clothes/cut and material are so much nicer to wear in this heat, it was a mision to get them made, but they look really ... read more

We have finally made it to Pondicherry and we love it, maybe it has to do with how bloddy french the whole place is? Or all the lovely reasturents and cafes? Or how clean the streets are? That we have not seen a single cow since we got here? Or our beautiful old colonal guesthouse? Whatever it is we love and and Sarah my French travelling buddie loves it even more then i as everyone speaks french, and even i can manage a few words...we are planning on doing lots of shopping and sitting in cafes and eating cheese...what more does a girl want in here life? I have even changed my ticket so that i will be leaving India on the 10th of June for Sri Lanka as being ill just stole days from us ... read more

Geo: 10.747, 79.8926TAMIL NADU - PONDICHERRY/PUDUCHERRYMay 12th-15th Staying in french colonial Hotel de Pondichery in Francois Martin Suite, oh la la, not as grand as it sounds but lovely and hotel is like the french version of The Fairlawn in Kolkata, colonial and no chintz. So Pondy is half French half Tamil with the french bit by the sea (suprise , surpise, not). It is roasting at 42 degrees and feels almost inland as there's no sand only rocks on the prom and you cannot swim there but there is a massive statue of Gandhi. According to the LP book the food is a revelation here but only if you think overpriced european food is I say (apart from the very indian veg. Thali's in Le Cormandale, yum).It is a bustling town or city as it would ... read more

Mumbia, Mamallapuram and Pondicherry After a horrible journey on a night bus from Auranagbad i arrived in Mumbai early in the morning. I took a cab to a hotel that tried to rip me off but the man who worked in the hotel came out and helped me get my money back. He then in turn preceded to rip me off by charging me the most I had paid for any room in India! After this i decided i should only stay one night in Mumbai, as it seemed like the most expensive place in India, so headed out to explore and try and book a train ticket to Chennai. The city is really interesting as it is a real mix of cultures. It is obviously one of the most western places in India, but it ... read more

The train trip here was a good experience...I had lazed around the hotel a little before leaving Madurai and I was in the mood to travel. After a short exchange with a rickshaw driver I chose to walk to the train station ,a 5 minute walk that he had wanted 20rupees for .It felt like I was heading out to conquer the world!!Mind you I was doing that in 2ndclass reserved AC ...no hardship there . I really enjoyed the journey. We went through farming country most of the way. Plains actually ...where there were grains of varying kinds being grown and crops at very different stages of development. I recognized wheat about to be cut ,some had already been stooked and in one area it looked to me that they were winnowing. People sitting in ... read more
