It's a go! I received word a few days ago that the Chinese government has lifted travel restrictions for foreigners into Tibet. Onward and upward, literally! I hope to see Lhasa and some monasteries and maybe get out in some more rural areas. I have no idea what to expect.... read more

02-DEC-2007 I didn't set the alarm correctly and everyone in the room/jeep was depending on me. I wake up 20 minutes after we're supposed to be downstairs for breakfast and shout to everyone to wake them up. Crap. I blame it on the alarm being a hunk of junk- hell, I don't want to be hated. It's also 1deg C and I need to jump out of this sleeping bag as fast as possible without dying. Done. The water from the tap must have been below zero because I have felt warmer snow. Luckily, the breakfast place has extremely fast service and we finish up just as everyone else is. I'm served an egg sandwich, but I have to force it down because I'm not very hungry. I slept well last night....but Suki seems to have a hard night. She has been having respiratory problems the past few days....possibly due to the thin air. When we woke up today at around 6am, dare not step into the toilet...was told it was a disaster inside...haha....Someone had quite a war there last night...ended up brushing my teeth by the window! After a hearty breakfast, had a slow walk to Rongphu Monastery. Initially, we thought we could be able to catch the Tibetan morning chants. Again, unfortunately, they cancelled it. One may think that we may be disappointed by not being able to get what we expected....but the beauty of this trip is that....we did not quite have any expectation...or rather I just went ahead with the trip and take everything in as it comes.
