I'm losing it. My bad for not writing blogs more. I'm actually just out of things to write about.. seriously. That's the truth. I really don't feel like I have much to say right now, but I'm going to keep writing and hope that it comes to me. It usually does. I have never, in my life, seen so many dogs and cats running around loose. They come in the restaurants and eat food off the floor... they (the cats especially) hang around the trash cans and eat whatever is in there (I really don't want to think about what they are actually eating)... the dogs look sweet.. the cats look evil. I don't know, but there are a ton of them. Speaking of animals, I don't know what in the world ran across campus today, ... read more

I thought I would dedicate this to the questions that the students have written on their index cards I'm having them fill out. Most of them are the same, but they are worded differently... or crazily. These are from my 0801 class (they are supposed to be the best): 1. Why do you choose to come to China? 2. When did you get married? 3. Why do you come to our school to teach English? 4. What things do you interested in? 5. Why do you come to China? 6. What do you think of China? 7. Why do you chose our school? 8. Why do you want to come to China to be an English teacher? 9. How old are you? 10. Do you get married? 11. Why are you teaching here and how long ... read more

Man, I'm slacking these days... and I haven't even started teaching! Thaaaat's tomorrow. I ate noodles last night and today for lunch. I've decided that there is absolutely no way to be cute when you eat them. It's just dig in and eat. You kind of have to let go of all your ideas about manners... even when you're not eating noodles. It's perfectly acceptable for someone to spit something out of their mouth onto the table. It's a little bit gross, but you have to accept it and move on. That's just how it is. When I got back to my apartment after lunch I looked down at my shirt and realized I had noodle sauce all over me. It was quite embarrassing.. Kyle was nice enough to not mention it.. or was that nice? ... read more

Well family, to the van, to the van, to the van van van! I'm sorry.. no one knows what I'm talking about except Jeremy and maybe a few others I have shared the stories with.. But I had to do it. Remind me to tell you about it when I see you.. if you remember. The reason that popped in my head is because I wanted to start my blog out with, "Well, friends.." I just got back from a walk. I walked to the roof of building 8, took some pictures, and then walked down the new road they are building. I walked by the lake and took some pictures.. then I decided to take the long way back.. I had actually never been the long way, so I was hoping I wouldn't get lost. ... read more

This blog is a little later than usual, but I woke up this morning pretty tired, and then I immediately began my day. I took a nap after we got back.. which may not have been a good idea, but I felt like I needed it. Anyway, hopefully I'm refreshed and can make this a good one. Yesterday at the English department meeting the dean of the department was there. He spoke an incredibly small amount of English (ironic, huh?). He sat at his desk (well, I assume it was his desk) with his pants pulled up to his knees smoking a cigarette and drinking something out of a thermos. He was a little short on hair on the top of his head.. He was exactly like I would imagine some important, rich, and powerful owner ... read more

I had this really great blog started, and then I clicked on something about my location.. because I wanted to see if they would add the city I'm in... and they did! But I lost it. It was so good. Well, I get the idea that you like receiving both blog updates and emails... So, I'll tell you what... as long as it doesn't get to be too much for either of us I'll keep both going. (I have to admit, I kind of like just being random in the blogs.) Just make sure I don't start updating too little. I want to keep you updated just enough (Goldilocks and the 3 Bears, anyone?) I've decided that I really like the band, The Weepies. "The Weepies?" you say. Yes. That's right. They're good. I think you ... read more
