Aaaa to budzik zaraz sie bedzie palil...''. Li leniwie przelewa sie pomiedzy jajowatymi, wapiennymi skalami, obrosnietymi podzwrotnikowa flora. Gdzieniegdzie zerwie sie ptak, Odpoczywajace wolu chlodzi sie przy brzegu a karawan trzygwiazdkowych statkow tnie wode nieustraszony, mknac z predkoscia 20 km/h.

Skutery. Co slychac na ulicach Guilin? Szum opon. Nic szczegolnego. Na podsumowani... read more

August 12 - Yangshuo5- Dia 52 Rest day. Well deserved, my forearms and fingers were destroyed. Starting the day with some good yoga, Five Parks Yoga.. amazes me every time. With no plans in mind I went one a short motorbike ride to some farm fields. Trying the motorbike off road for the first time, defiently not meant for it.? Today I always felt like something was missing. I was missing somebody to spend all this moments with. I find myself learning that I really can't live a single day without having some human contact. With the day getting warmer I decided to spent the rest of my time swimming in the Li River. It was comforting since their where aways people chilling next to me. Some fisherman dressed extremely professionaly but not managing to catch ... read more

August 10th -Yangshuo3 - Dia 50! Today's plan was simple. Try an easy multipitch climb up a tower called "The Thumb". The climb was called New Years Eve and it is considered a classic around the area. Due to the heat we were looking to climb it in the shade so we had to wait until 11am. Having the whole morning by myself I did some Yoga, I am trying to do it every single morning now days. Feels sooo good! ?? The thing I was most excited today, apart from the multipitch was try my new motorbike. A bit nervous of how everything was going to go with the traffic. Had never ridden a motorbike before, good thing this one was automatic jeje. Going quickly on a test run before letting Claire jump in the ... read more

August 8th -Yangshuo1- Dia 48 Jumping out of bed nice and early to explore the town and try to find the local climbers. No idea what to expect?. Walking out of the Hostel I was welcomed to some stemmed soy milk. Never gets old. I walked around a lot and started to notice how big the town was, if I really wanted to enjoy my stay here I would need to rent a bike. The walk was gorgeous, I had really missed the Chinese towns. Life was much slower and relaxing and you could see a gorgeous landscape all around. Something that you tend to miss in the cities, they seem to engulf the nature. Getting close to the famous West Street I started to see the town wake up ane start setting up their small ... read more

We woke up in the FengHuAng Ancient City and began to tour the beautiful city that introduces foreigners to the history of China. There were lots of authentic shops (not like the Panda Express in the USA), and we bought a milk tea and oolong tea. As we walked around, we crossed a bridge made of wooden posts, saw a man fishing in the river, and watched a man make peanut candy with a heavy wooden hammer. He smashed the candy and kept folding it to make is softer. The result was delicious sweet candy that we got to take home. After that, we napped on the bus ride and our tour guide talked to us about a glass bridge and more about Zhang Jiajie National Park.... read more

Today was an uneventful but overall fun day. First thing was wake up at 6:30 and depart from Singapore on Silk Air to Guilin, China. The fun part was getting to watch a bunch of movies and playing video games on the flight. Guilin is a prefecture-level city that has a lot of rich history like the rest of China. It was a county at one point and was involved with many dynasties of China. When we arrived in Guilin, we met up with the other tourist and rode a chartered bus to Downtown, where we ate some Chinese food. Then we hopped on a different bus and traveled to FengHuang Ancient City.... read more

Nihao - hello from China! We decided to book a last minute trip to China for Easter as it was cheap and always a destination of curiosity. Our first stop was Haikou, on the southern island of Hainan, which is a 9-hour direct flight from Sydney.Having been slightly naive about the language barrier we quickly realised that no one was able to understand any English! By using sign language, a map on my phone and google translate, the entire bus joined in to help contribute to work out how we could get to our hotel. We jumped off at the place where they advised and started the 15-minute walk to our hotel. The next challenge was to find food, so we went to a place that looked busy. However, the menu was only in Chinese. The ... read more

I often heard about Yangshuo, during my first trip to China, but I missed that out because I had so many places in my mind to visit and I did not make it up to Guangxi Province. Finally, the time has come and I will never forget the day I arrived in this ancient town. It was a pretty cloudy day but the scenic, craggy mountains covered in lush green and the clouds encirling the peaks welcome the foreigners with outstanding breathtaking views of stunning karst mountain formations and the gentle Li river making its way through them. That was all to enjoy, I rerely remember such a beautiful scenary at my arrival in one place. "Yangshuo is also on the 20 yuan banknote". But, as it happens in all the beautiful places, even here the ... read more

The foreigners who travel through China tend to be older, and/or are couples, or have been studying, working or volunteering in China and are now travelling around. It is a hassle to get a visa to come here, it is difficult to get around without some Mandarin and it isn't as cheap as say, South East Asia, so it isn't the most popular destination of choice for young backpackers. That's been my experience anyway, as my show rolled into Yangshuo. There were a few more white faces here than I had seen previously. Nearby Guilin used to be the poster child of Chinese tourism, one perennially promoted by the Communist government to the outside world, showcasing the natural beauty of China. By all accounts however, Guilin is now past its prime and has handed over its ... read more
