Spanek zas nic moc. Nakonec sa definitivne preberam o 5.30. Po sprche spraveny check in a smer bus. Som tam uz o 6.30 Vsade kopa ludi, motorky, stanky s jedlom, rozne krabice a busy. K busom sa je umenie dostat. Znacenie destinacii je ubohe. Vodic na bus nalepi papier kde je destinacia a cas odchodu. Medzi 6.30 - 7.30 odchadza asi 6 busov. Zadne nastupistia ale busy stoja pri kraji cesty. Ludia sa tlacia, drbnute odparkovane motorky. Totalny bordel. Idem cez cestu na ranajky. Ryza s fajn masickom. Posilneny nazad k busom. Je za 5min 7. No moj bus nikde. Pytam sa jedneho sofera, ten nevi. Idem k pultiku s listkami, ta mi len ukazuje smer a ze mam cakat. Pultik tez debilny. Predava tu asi 6 bab, destinacie maju nalepene na spodu stolika. Ten vsak ... read more

Plan ist na 7.45 bus vysiel , i ked som opat siel zbytocne skoro ale radsej skoro ako nestihnut let, i ked v pripade straty 14€ a kambodze by ma to nemrzelo. Na nastupisti jeden splaseny turista. Kupil listok, vybehol hore, zas k predavacovy listkov, nieco zistoval. Vo familimarte davam kelinkove nudle. V prvom samoobsluznom ... read more

Asia » Cambodia » South » Sihanoukville October 4th 2018

Sihanoukville, is a small city in Cambodia, it is considered to be a tourist town. However, I believe it's definitely geared towards a particular niche of people. There are restaurants, casinos and beaches- some beautiful, others not so good. While I do enjoy going to the beach occasionally, there is sadly little else for me to do here. That probably has something to do with the fact that I prefer walkable cities, with lots to do and see. Nevertheless, I know that a lot of people visit Sihanoukville and find it to be a great city. So much so, that many decide to retire here. There are expats who have been living here for many years and plan on continuing to live here. For me, I believe the draw must be the relatively cheap cost of ... read more

Phnom Penh is one of those crazy cities that you either love or hate… on my first visit in 2007 I hated it. I stayed out of the tourist area, walked back to our hotel from a terrible dinner and had children pulling at us begging. The streets were dark and dingy and we felt very unsafe… However fast forward 11 years and it is one of my favourites! Here is my guide to your time in Phnom Penh Accommodation I absolutely love the MAADS chain of hotels – they have several in differing budgets… and Urban Teahouse is my number one, followed closely by the ever popular Blue Lime. Blue Lime is walking distance to the river and a firm favourite of many travellers. I highly recommend both of the above, but their other hotels ... read more

Sunday, 12th August 2018 This is our final morning in the city of Phnom Penh before our 3.25pm flight back to Singapore in the afternoon. Early morning, we wasted no time to head to the Central Market for breakfast. From one of the stalls at the edge of the market, we ordered yam cakes, baguettes and coffee to boost up our day. The market wasn't too overwhelmed with people at this time of the day as we soon realised in the afternoon. When we pop by for lunch later, it was filled with locals and tourists jostling for space. Anyway, after breakfast, we did not have too much time to wander about since we had to gather at the hotel lobby by 12pm for our transport to the airport. We did manage to pop by at ... read more

Saturday, 11th August 2018 At 8.30am, the sun was bright and sunny as 16 of us joined the cyclo tour to take in the architectural wonders of Central Phnom Penh. For the next 3 hours, the tour brought us to some of the most iconic buildings in the city including the Central Post Office, the China House as well as the quiet Railway Station. The guide was very informative as she shared with us stories of Cambodian history and political situation that corresponded to the period when the buildings were built. All in all, this was a very well-organised tour put together plus a very enjoyable cyclo ride around the city centre. Earlier in the morning, C and myself had woken up at 6.30am. We decided to hail a tuk tuk to the Olympic Stadium for ... read more

Friday, 10th August 2018 After breakfast at the hotel this morning, our tour bus came by to pick us up at 8.30am where we began our city tour of Phnom Penh. Barely 10 minutes into the journey, we had arrived at the first stopping point for the day, the imposing Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda. For USD10, we were able to gain admission to the beautiful grounds dotted with healthy green lawns and immaculately kept gardens. The great thing about Phnom Penh is that the sights are within closed proximity to one another. There is no need to spend lots of time on the road before arriving at our destination. Within the grounds of the Silver Pagoda lies a mini Angkor Wat where we happily snapped loads of pictures of the beautiful model. It was ... read more

Thursday, 9th August 2018 More than 10 years ago, I was travelling by myself on this Jetstar flight 3K593 to meet my Cambodian friend, R at the Phnom Penh International Airport. Fast forward August 2018, there were more than 30 of us on this very same flight for our 4 Days 3 Nights retreat over the National Day long weekend. It was a last minute decision from my end to participate and I was really happy to be able to make it for this retreat. At the end of the 4 days, new friendships were forged and old friendships strengthened as we carved out our uniquely Phnom Penh experience. Our flight took off at 3+ in the afternoon from Changi International Airport. Flight time was about 95 minutes. As usual, I always find the leg room ... read more
