(NOTE: the internet was down last night so I did not get the other daily blog completed yet - stay tuned! We're on our way to Nepal - I'll finish/upload it then!)

Hi everyone - and greetings from the kitchens of Cambodia - well, not exactly - from the pool side where some of us had an incredible experience this morning - a cooking class with the Executive Chef at the Angkor Century Spa and Resort!

FANTASTIC! Which is why we deemed it necessary to bring you this 'special edition' - for all you 'foodies' out there!

Ok, so it all started with a trip to the market - OMG! The photos say it all - but I will add this - I have NEVER, and I mean NEVER, experienced anything like this before. And I have been to many markets!

We saw it all - from scooters zipping up the aisles - to babies in hammocks - to live fish actually jumping out of the baskets. Ewwwwwwww! As well as dangerous little women with very large cleavers - beware chickens and fish.

It really was a one-stop-shop because you could also take your clothes there for mending, get your hair cut and styled, buy shoes galore, and get your motorcycle tuned. No joking!!!!!!

Ok - so that was an adventure unto itself. We did have the pleasure of being escorted by the Food and Beverage Manager - he was incredibly helpful as we went from aisle to aisle - he shops there daily for his own family - it really was a local market. We were the only non-locals in the whole place. We left many smiling faces because we gave a lot of tips (as we took photos) - and it was a culinary experience beyond compare!

And then it was back to the hotel - we were welcomed by the staff with iced towels (it was DARN hot/humid outside) tinted with camphor oil - very refreshing - and then we were given a welcome back beverage of mango/melon/lime - YUM - our 'cooking class' was set up poolside - and then the real work/fun began. We were a small but mighty group!!!!!

It was a 4-course meal - (see photo of menu below) allowing for something for everyone. They were most accommodating for any food allergies or sensitivies as well - so everyone really had a great time.

There was pretty much a 1-1 match for us - the staff went above and beyond! So much so that Robert and I have become the 'poster children' for their marketing for this particular (new) revenue stream - cool!

Fully adorned in chef hats, aprons and......oh yes, the infamous white surgical gloves - we jumped in - and the cooking began. Everyone had a chance to chop, stir, cut, flip - you name it. It was all for a taste test because there was the FULL meal being served inside once we were finished the learning component - along with wine! All this for only $45US each!!!!!!! - which includes a certificate - yay!!!!! We will be presenting that at the Gala Dinner tonight.

Cooking School
Hi Pat, it is great that even though you are returning to some of the same places, you are providing new and different things to see and do! Going to the market with the Chef would have been fabulous and your Cooking School by the pool looked like lots of fun! You look like you are having fun and that's the name of Happy Pat's game, isn't it?

Tues morning DWTS after shocks
while you are on your way to nepal...(my best friend just got back from there) i am calculating who will get the big boot tonight....I'm strongly feeling hope because not only did she suck but maks WENT OFFFF on len. It's ALL OVER the news. He did not win her any votes last night, as hot as he is and was...Chaz almost had a heart attack and he sucked as well so it may be him.....Rob (ewww) bought himself another week . I would love to see him and his branding ass family get the boot. I cant look at those kardashians much longer. I for one and wholly ready to have JR David and Ricki bring in the final 3.....JR is going to win the coveted Mirror Ball. NO DOUBT. Tonight I will be cursing the ground Joel walks on as i play with the puppy, tweet and watch to see who gets the boot. Be careful in Nepal. The cooking class looked incredible as did the food. I am so happy that you are all having such a glorious time...What is the date that you come back to the states? xoxo staci

What a riot!
Hey Pat - I'm a couple of days behind - not sure if my comments are getting through so I thought I would jump ahead to the present day. This looks like such a blast!! It could even make me enjoy cooking, and that says alot. I think I could live without the snails though! Nice to see the old bottled cokes. These blogs give me a nice break out of the work day to dream...thanks!

Typically, I write and post the blog at night - in the morning, I review the comments, accept them and then they appear wtih that same blog. Glad you're enjoying our trip with us! Pat

Meal request from Robert upon his return
Looks like you are all enjoying the trip! Tell Robert that he looks good in the chef's hat. The neighbours now expect a good meal cooked by Robert upon his return. Keep enjoying the trip and stay safe. Violet
