Our two passengers who were not feeling too well - taking a little cat nap while we were touring Angkor Wat. (they're better now) Evening greetings from fabulous Cambodia! What a day!
As many of you know, Siem Riep is one of my MOST favorite places - for so many reasons. And it has not disappointed. Anyone in the hospitality industry needs to come here for some training because they know about customer service - especially at the Angkor Century Resort & Spa. They are #1!!!!!
The whole atmosphere here in Siem Riep is 'zen-like' - calm, peaceful, happy. We could learn a lot from these people.
Ok - so a full day is what we had - and everyone had a blast. Get your coffee/tea.....whatever......and sit down for a few minutes and join us as I share the delights of the day. I took close to 300 pictures today, so choosing just a select few has been a big challenge.
Many started off the day with a swim in the fabulous pool - the sun was up, the birds were singing - and then on to the buffet breakfast. Lovely. We headed out to Angkor Wat - one of the 10 Wonders of the World. So much history - too much to share here - however, just click on one
of the links attached to this blog entry and you will be able to access all the history of this place. Well worth the read! A lot of restoration work is going on and it detracted from some amazing photos so, quite honestly, I took one of my photos from my last trip and posted it so you could get a great look at Angkor Wat itself. Up and down and all around - tons of walking, climbing, more walking! So much fun when we ran into our flight crew, enjoying their tour at the site, too. Unfortunately, two of our group weren't feeling well - so.......yup.......I caught those photos too - see below. They are getting lots of love, care and attention.........tomorrow is a day of rest and relaxation and that will help -
After the tour at Angkor Wat, it was back on the bus and off to eat (yes, again!) - we are eating a lot - and it's been so much fun to check out the local 'favorites' - so, lots of food photos this time (wait till tomorrow - some of us are taking a cooking class here with the Chef!!!! I am soooooooooo
excited!) Lunch was delightful - I had our local tour guide walk me through the food areas and explain a lot of what was so unfamiliar to me - helped a lot!
We had a short break at the hotel - and then off to visit the Artisan Centre. This is a school where individuals come to learn a trade (like an apprenticeship school) - wood carving, silk screening, etc. Such a great opportunity for those who, otherwise, would have no means to earn a living. This was a highlight of the day for many - and then.....we got to spend some money in the shop where the students' wares were sold. Fabulous items. We weren't supposed to take any photos but I snuck one anyway - for you! It's below. Just to give you an idea of what we were experiencing. I could hear the cash register going 'ka-ching, ka-ching' - which is music to the ears of the students. It was fun.
We had a window of opportunity now to do some fun things - so Brenda, Robert and I grabbed a Tuk (scooter taxi) and headed down main street to the market. Woweeeeee - what
an experience - from being in the midst of 'rush hour' traffic (for what that's worth here) through to some aspects of the market - the pictures speak for themselves. Coming back, we grabbed another Tuk and it was a 'wedding' one - so Robert and I had some fun around that (again, check out the photos) - (he's missing you, Judy!!!!!!)
Then, it was back to the hotel - it was fun to see so many passengers gathering in the lounge - enjoying a few drinks and getting to know each other. This was one of the best days yet for that kind of comraderie. There was lovely music playing - and lots of conversation and laughter. Brenda and I headed for supper and then we parted ways again - me, to do the blog (this has become an international phenomenon! So much fun to get all your comments each day!) - and Brenda was headed over to the Spa (again!!!! LOL).
And that's our amazing day in Siem Riep. Love, love, love it! You will definitely want to be back here tomorrow because I have some unique things lined up - we're all pretty much going
our separate ways up till our special dinner around the pool - so the blog will be a bit later because of that dinner/entertainment......but, blog I will!
Take care, everyone. Good night, Mom! I love you!
Happy Pat

Siem Reap Smiles
Living on memories again when we see your fabulous pictures of Angkor Wat, etc. I forgot that when we were at the hotel we couldn't use the pool - it was all green, do you remember? We do remember the Spa for sure and the long layover allowing us to do some laundry and catch up. Very relaxing - hoping between your guiding and your blogging, you are getting some time for yourself as well....
