On thursday of our trip we went for a half a day to ShakaLand. ShakaLand is in the heart of Zulu culture. The Zulu people are one of South Africa's oldest and most prominant tribes. King Shaka is their most famous chief and the area is named after him. ShakaLand is actually a movie set built for the movie ShakaLand which explains King Skaka's life. After the movie was finished they left the movie set up so people could tour it and learn about Zulu culture.

While at ShakaLand we learned about Zulu traditional dress, weapons, warfare, food, dancing, how a village is set up, and many other culture things. It was a great experience. The food was very good and we were able to try the homemade traditional beer which was also very good.

photos will tell more.

Tasted fruity and thick. I think it would have been even better if it were cold.

Beading is very important in their culture. All the bead colors mean different things. They use beads to tell stories or send messages
