On friday, our last day, we went out into the Indain Ocean to go in a cage to see sharks. The sharks were not the scarest part!! The boat was a rubber zodac that was only about 18' long. The waves were HUGE that day and he said it was the worst he would take people in and we had to hurry because it was going to get worse. Plus we had to start on the beach and push the boat through the surf and drive through the HUGE!!! waves to get our to the open ocean that was not any calmer. Lets just say I couldn't even watch the front because they swells we were going over in this small boat were crazy!! He started feeding the sharks before the cage was in and there ... read more

On thursday of our trip we went for a half a day to ShakaLand. ShakaLand is in the heart of Zulu culture. The Zulu people are one of South Africa's oldest and most prominant tribes. King Shaka is their most famous chief and the area is named after him. ShakaLand is actually a movie set built for the movie ShakaLand which explains King Skaka's life. After the movie was finished they left the movie set up so people could tour it and learn about Zulu culture. While at ShakaLand we learned about Zulu traditional dress, weapons, warfare, food, dancing, how a village is set up, and many other culture things. It was a great experience. The food was very good and we were able to try the homemade traditional beer which was also very good. photos ... read more

The next adventure we went on was to Hluhluwe - Imfolozi Park. It is a game reserve about 2 and a half hours north of Durban. The game park is mostly fenced in to protect the animals from poachers. Especially the Rinos. The Park is around 900,000 acres. It houses the Big Five: Rino, Lion, Cheeta, Elephants, and Cape Buffalo. We saw 3 of the five. All but the cats, which are hard to see during the day becuase they find a sunny spot and lay there all day. The trip was on a very nice day and we were the only ones so we could do what we wanted to do and go at our own speed. We saw many different types of animals and learned lot about each one. One thing I would do ... read more

Our first adventure on the trip was to take a jeep 4x4 up the Drakensberg Mt. in to the county of Lesotho at the top of the mountains. Drakensberg means dragon and the mountains look like a dragon's back. The Sani pass was used as a trading route long ago and the Sani people who live at the top of the Pass would travel down to trade with the South African tribes. Today the road is used for travel and for people to come down from the mountains to shop, trade, or work. The road is very steep and rocky. Falling rocks happen all time, we drove on the edge of cliffs, and running water and waterfalls run right into and over the road. Today the Sani people live in circle huts made from stone and ... read more

We are alive after our trip up the sani pass! We drove up what had to be the scariest road in the world to the top of a mountain where yes, there was snow! We played in snow in Africa! The Sani people live at the top of this mountain which is in the country of Lesotho. So, we got another stamp on our passports which is cool. They are mostly sheep farmers and are very proud of their way of life. They shared their homemade bread with us which was AMAZING and we heard them sing. (funny thing was they were singing a song that made fun of us) lol. We ate at the highest pub in Africa and then back down we went. I have great pictures and video to share when we get ... read more

Hello from South Africa, We finally arrived! An interesting thing: We had to stop in Dakar, Senegal which was cool because we didn't know we were stopping there. We didn't get off the plane but got to see some of the country from the air. We arrived here friday later at night and it was dark so we didn't get to see anything till saturday morning. It is very green and pretty but it is raining so we haven't seen much yet. The waves are huge in the ocean! We did book some trips for the week though. Monday: We are going up the Suni Pass, which is the third largest jeep track in the world. We will get to see Lesotho, which is another country inside South Africa! We will also see the mountains, jungle, ... read more
