Day 8
Off to Marrakesh today but first a couple stops along the way. We stopped just moments away from our hotel and had a guided tour of our first Kasbah, it was called Kasbah Taourirt. Just after that Kasbah we stopped at one of the finest Kasbahs in Morocco, it's called Ait Benhaddou, this is where Lawrence of Arabia was filmed.
Pretty amazing buildings, we took a few pictures, and enjoyed the shops.
Back on the road we drove through the Draa Valley, the scenery was incredible. Now when we were in the mountains there wasn't too many choices for lunch, amazingly enough being with our tour we had a great little spot that made us all fresh subs....and we had a beautiful view.
Back on the road we were almost there!! (Thank god) we were both getting ready to get off the bus...we made a quick stop for coffee; we met this cute little girl. She asked me if I had a pen, Daniel went and grabbed one for her...she was smiling from ear to ear. We went back to our bags and found a deck of cards...we gave them to her and I tell you she couldn't
of been happier. Wish we'd of brought more stuff to give away.
We arrived at our hotel, it's about 3 years old and beautiful but we didn't stay long we called for a taxi and headed down town to the BIG square called Djemaa el-Fna which mean the Square of the dead. However it's the most lively place in Marrakesh!!! We couldn't believe we were here. For months before we left on this trip, we had watched a cooking show called Chef Abroad with the Chef Michael Smith, he had visited this square and we actually found the family from the TV show at their restaurant ''stall''.
There are many to choose from and we knew we'd come back to this one, we got a photo with the owner...sooo neat!! We walked around in the souks (similar to a chaotic market) and enjoyed ourselves. It was crazy some of the things we saw.....the people are so friendly, happy and the shop keepers all have such wonderful things to see.

We stopped to look at the ladies doing the henna tattoos and before I knew it voila I had my hand
done...and I do truly mean that... I didn’t even know she'd begun and I guess I can say I’m lucky with the whole experience...I ended up with the black henna that lasts the longest!! Great 3 week souvenir from Marrakesh!!!
We wondered back to stall number 42 and we sat to eat. We had a feast of food, all for under 10.00 dollars....it was such a neat experience eating with them as we'd watched the show SOOO MANY times before our trip.
We can also say that we tried fresh snails...5 dirham for a small bowl, less than 1 dollar....how could we not at least try them!! Not my new favourite food but they we OK.
We wondered around and shopped, we also booked our reservation for a traditional Hammam and message for the next afternoon, at the DIDI Spa.
We
took the shuttle back to the hotel and enjoyed a few beers with some of the others from our tour group and called it a night!
