First day in Cairo was cold and windy, slightly less chaotic then I expected with driving like Longsight (with lots more lanes) and smelling of dust and sheesha. Went to Cairo Tower, Cairo Zoo, Khan el Khalili market, and Tahrir Square. There's freedom in the air. People seem happy, free, and pleased to see tourists. At Tahrir Square they were selling flags and 25th Jan stickers. More tourist stuff today - camels, pyramids, perfumery, and Egyptian Museum. Stayed at Havana Hotel, Syria Street. Decent enough in an uninspiring bit of Cairo about 20 mins from centre.
