He has one leg missing but is one of the strongest croc in the river. At 4.5 metres also one of the largest.
We had a long 9hr drive up to Broome, we almost ran out of petrol in the last 10Ks so began to panic but thankfully she managed to get us to a station. On the way we saw quite alot of mini sandstorms through the desert- and some really cool scenary.... although the same cd repeated over and over got really annoying! Anyway when we eventually found a camp site to stop for a couple of nights we realised that these last couple of nights were going to be uncomfortable as it was in the forties during the day and about 25C at night! Most of the day we hung by the gorgeous pool and chilled out. We went for a walk along the famous cable beach although we didn't swim as the whole beach was full of jellyfish that had been washed ashore -some nutters were swimming tho!
It was the end of our trip up the west coast and a tearful goodbye to our great little campervan. It was time to jump on the 26hr drive to Darwin on the Greyhound coach- not as bad as I had imagined, esp as we both managed to get a row of seats each.
On the coach we met up with another English couple, who we spent the next few days in Darwin together. They knew loads of people as they had just finished fruit picking for 3 mths, so we had a good night out in the Irish bar with all their mates. I really liked Darwin, everything was close so you didn't need to walk a mile to get a drink like some places in oz, and all the bars opened up onto the street and lit up at night. On our last day in Darwin we went on a tour to Litchfield National Park. We went on a jumping croc cruise and saw some really massive crocs being fed- one of the crazy tour guides fed the beast by hand! these crocs were up to 5 metres long! We also got to see some of the snakes they kept there- the one I am holding in the pic is a diamond python. We had little lessons on the numerous lizards and termites before heading to the waterfalls in the NP. What amazing views!!! we got to have a few refreshing swims in the waterfalls and the boys had to

be boys and have competitions as to who could to the best jumps, dives and bombs from the falls. At one point this idiot Italian decided to show off and climb to the top of the fall- our tour guide was shouting at him to get down but he didn't listen and as everyone around watched to see him kill himself- he jumped. Luckily he was fine but it wasn't nice to watch!
On the way back David had a full on lesson about aborigional culture from our tour guide who was aborigional- it was really interesting to hear from their side and some of it actually made sence- although some of it didn't like women having to physically hurt themselves if a member of the family died, and not allowing any contact with your in-laws as you are said to have interupted the blood line and to prevent any atraction to your partners family.
After the tour the four of us went to the night market, which was cool and I bought myself a hippy style girly dress (everyone wears them here) I can't believe I will wear something like this but it is actually really nice (you won't catch me wearing it at home though!). They had a band playing with one guy playing the digeridos- really great.
We then had another long 20hr coach trip to Alice Springs, and we are now just waiting for our Uluru 3 day tour, which starts tomorrow. Can't wait although not looking forward to the flies, apparently they are really bad there. Oh well fly hat to buy then!

We have changed our itinary as the flights were too expensive, so we are now getting a 2 day express tour to Adelade and then making our way to Melbourne then Sydney where we will be looking for a place to rent and work. Update again in Syd, bye for nowX
